Obituary of Melvin Ralph Hovey

With deep sadness the family of Melvin Ralph Hovey (Mel) of Quispamsis, NB, wish to share the news of his passing which occurred on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on January 19, 1934 in Saint John, NB, he was the son of the late Ralph and Mary (King) Hovey. Melvin was employed at Saint John Shipbuilding for 46 Years. He was also an accomplished wood crafter and had a gift for writing poetry. EARTH The most beautiful place One day we must close our eyes upon it. Mel.R.Hovey Melvin is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joan (Hall) Hovey. He also leaves behind his four children; Gary (Adeline), Brenda (Jeff), Daryl (Lynne) and Bill (Jennifer), eight granddaughters; Natasha, Melissa, Rebecca, Ashley, Emily, Brittany, Katrina, Sabrina, one grandson; Liam and three great grandsons; Reid, Quinton and Dylan. Also survived by siblings; Alma, Ward (Gen), Joan (Hector), Victor (Winnifred), Douglas (Kim) , and several nieces and nephews. Melvin was predeceased by Irvine, Mary, Calvin, Lily, Edward, Edmund, Charles, Violet and Austin. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (849-2119) with visiting on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 16 at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM. Interment to take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens, Saint John, NB. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the memorial of the donor's choice.
