Obituary of Andrew William Gnazdowsky

It is with breaking hearts and overwhelming sadness that the family announces the tragic passing of Andrew William Gnazdowsky on Friday, October 16, 2020, in Sheet Harbor, Nova Scotia.

Born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on February 12, 1994, to Glen and Richel (Munroe) Gnazdowsky, Andrew truly was an angel on earth.

The family moved to Rothesay, New Brunswick in 1996, where Andrew grew up with Nicole, his sister, best friend and partner in crime.  He graduated from Kennebecasis Valley High School in 2012 after which he returned to Saskatchewan, to complete his Civil Engineering Degree at the University of Saskatchewan, giving him the opportunity to spend time with his extended family.  Andrew returned to New Brunswick after graduating in 2017 and met the love of his life, Allison Curwin; the Curwin family welcomed him with open arms into their family.  He worked a brief period of time for WSP based out of Moncton; and in 2019 he was thrilled to get a job with Brunswick Engineering giving him the opportunity to return to Rothesay, and make this his home.  He bought a house, had two dogs and a cat, and was so excited about the future; he had recently bought an engagement ring and was planning to ask Allison to be part of his life forever.  He had never been so happy.

Andrew loved to have fun!  He had an amazing group of friends, both in Rothesay and Saskatoon. He loved hanging out with his friends and playing board games; when he couldn’t be with them in person, they played video games online.  He loved to golf and there were many father-son tournaments where the sons were beginning to overtake their dads.  He was so proud of his new back yard and loved having friends and family over to enjoy a bonfire.  Andrew loved food and he was becoming quite the grill master.  He loved music, the tunes were always cranked and he sang along; and not being shy, he could often be seen ‘showing his moves’.  Andrew loved going ‘home’ to Saskatchewan to hang out with his cousins; he was a die-hard Rider fan and every game day he proudly wore his green and white.  He loved to travel and we are so grateful for the many wonderful family vacations that we had a chance to share.

Anyone who could see past his differences had an opportunity to be part of an incredible journey.  Andrew taught us all how to live -- how to love life to the fullest, to be in the moment, and to find the beauty in everything around us.  Andrew lit up a room when he walked in; he welcomed everyone with outstretched arms and gave the greatest hugs.  Even though he struggled with many health issues throughout his life, he was the most positive, upbeat person. He had an uncanny ability to make people laugh and he had a laugh that will never be forgotten. There was never a goodbye without a ‘luv ya’.

In addition to his parents, Andrew will be never be forgotten by his sister Nicole Gnazdowsky of Halifax, NS,  grandfather, ‘Gido’ Bill Gnazdowsky of Saskatoon, SK, uncles Edward (Cheryl) Gnazdowsky of Belize and Lewis Gnazdowsky of Edmonton, AB; grandmother Patricia Munroe of Moose Jaw, SK; uncles Larry (Valerie) Munroe of Moose Jaw, SK, Richard Munroe of Millet, AB, Robert (Teresa) Munroe of Moss Bank, SK, and Jason (Colette) Munroe of Consort, AB., and cousins – Doug (Janelle), Travis (Alysha), Trevor Munroe; Jerrod Eberts and Nadine (Robbie) Seims; Michael and Alysha Munroe, Mat Shaw, Ashley, Abby and Justin Byers; Colson, Josée and Kirby Munroe; John (Alysha) Goudreau, Leif (Kristen) and Marshall Olsen – their significant others and beautiful children;  great Uncle Doug (Janet) Cantelon of Regina, SK and numerous extended cousins throughout the world.  He will also be lovingly remembered by our many Saskatchewan friends and our special New Brunswick friends who have adopted us into their lives and we are so grateful to have them to lean on at this difficult time.  Andrew truly touched the lives of so many people.

As we say goodbye, Andrew joins his ‘Baba’ (grandmother) Elizabeth Gnazdowsky and grandfather Stewart Munroe.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). Due to Covid restrictions, a private Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 from Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 AM. For those unable to attend, please visit www.kennebecasisfh.com, where a livestream of the funeral will be available on Andrew’s obituary. Interment to take place at Fernhill Cemetery, Saint John, NB. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Shriner’s Hospital in Montreal.
