Obituary of Patrick Francis McGuire
Patrick Francis McGuire passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Monday, May 16th, 2016, with his family by his side. Pat was the husband of Betty (Chessie) McGuire, of Rothesay, NB and a Son of the Late William and May (Egan) McGuire of McAdam, NB.
Pat was born in McAdam, NB on August 2nd 1945; he attended St Clement's Roman Catholic Church, he also attended school in McAdam and graduated in 1963, he then attended NBIT in Moncton, NB. Pat started his career with NB Tel in St. Stephen, NB in 1965, and in 1982, Pat was transferred to Saint John, NB where after 35 years of service he retired in 2000.
Pat loved woodworking and made many beautiful pieces. He also loved gardening with Betty in their beautiful yard. Pat was the "go-to" neighbour. His favorite hockey team was the Montreal Canadiens "Habs". Pat and Betty were avid hockey fans holding Season Tickets for the Saint John Flames of the AHL and the Sea Dogs of the QMJHL for 20 plus years, where they enjoyed spending time with their hockey family.
Pat also loved the game of golf, he was a member of the Hampton Golf Club for 16 years. During these 16 years, Pat won three Senior Golf Titles. Pat loved spending time at the "Camp", especially with Paul and Gary Lister. Pat was a kind and gentle man with a great sense of humour.
Pat is survived by his wife Betty (Chessie), daughter Anne Marie (McGuire) Cooper (Steve Martin) Saint John, NB; Son Kevin Patrick McGuire (Melanie Gaulin) Bradford, Ont; "Papa" to grandson; Jeremy Patrick McGuire; granddaughters; Morgan and Bailey Gaulin.
Also survived by brothers: George (Gaye) McGuire, London, Ont; Leo (Jeannette) McGuire, Stouffville, Ont; Gerry (Sybil)McGuire, Gloucester, Ont; Sisters, Sr Doreen McGuire, Saint John, Judy (Alan) Dunsmore, Calgary, AB; Sheila McGuire, London, Ont;
Also survived by brother-in-law Jim (Rossi) Hayter, Miramichi, NB; Sister- in-law Barb McGuire, London, Ont; Sister-in-law Rose (Tony) McCracken, Bridgewater, NS; Patsy ( Bob) Pierce, Moncton, NB and brother-in-law Jimmy (Pierrette) Chessie, Fredericton, NB. Many, nieces, nephews and close friends.
Predeceased by, brother Billy (Barb) McGuire, brother Raymond McGuire, sister Patty (Bill) Reid and sister Betty Hayter.
Pat was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Society, Liver Foundation or charity of the Donor's choice. Visitation is on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A celebration of Pat's life will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at 12:00 PM from Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119).
