Obituary of Doris Elizabeth Carpenter

The death of Doris Elizabeth Carpenter of Quispamsis, wife of the late Wendell Carpenter, occurred on Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Ewshot, England on January 21, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Mary (Ruffle) Hill. Doris enjoyed knitting, reading, Bingo and traveling. She was a member of the War Brides Association and the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #58. Survived by her son Richard (Genevieve) of Quispamsis, daughters; Lynn Carpenter Sedge (James) of Halifax, and Janet Wood of Browns Flat, grandchildren; Stephen and Daniel Wood, Michael Carpenter, Catherine, Amanda, and Andrew Sedge, great granddaughters; Victoria, Sydney, and Melanie Wood, and Ashley Wisted. Besides her husband, Doris was predeceased by her sisters; Elsie Harris, Mary Hardy, Rene McAllister, granddaughter Suzanne Wisted, and son-in-law George Wood. At Doris' request there will be no visitation. A private Graveside Service will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (849-2119). Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
