Obituary of George Gerard Duffley
It is with heavy hearts the family of George "Jim" Duffley, of Quispamsis, NB, husband of Rita A (Buckley) Duffley, announce his passing on Friday, February 17, 2017. He passed peacefully surrounded by his family at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born in Quispamsis, NB on November 14, 1921 he was the son of the late Robert and Mary Ellen (McLaughlin) Duffley. Jim was predeceased by his son Mark, granddaughter Rachael, son-in-law Frank Iyoupe and brothers Edmund, Norman and Louis.
Jim was an aircraft mechanic during World War II with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a mechanic throughout his entire life and also became a real estate agent and appraiser for fourteen years before retiring.
He is survived by his wife Rita, six children Alberta Mercer (Paul) of Saint John, Julie Johnston (Bob) of Sault Saint Marie, ON, Alan Duffley of Quispamsis, and Carol Duffley of Enfield, NS, Owen Duffley (Kelley) of Fall River, NS, and Noel Duffley (Wendy) of Rockland, ON, one sister Rita Duffley of Saint John, daughter-in-law Lynn Ann Duffley, nine grandchildren Jason (Louise), Danielle, Jeremiah (Amy), Joshua (Lynn), Jacqueline (Chris), Vanessa, Mariah, Kirstin and Alicia, two great grandchildren Jeffery and Julieanne, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis NB with visitation on Monday, February 20, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate the life of Jim, will be held at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Road Quispamsis on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 10AM. The family is extending an invitation to everyone to a reception at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home immediately following the Mass. A private interment is planned for the spring.
