Hi Nancy I think you and I went to Teachers' College together (1963-65) and I believe you went home to Grand Manan with me one weekend. I've often thought of you over the years and one time I called your mother to find out where you were. Today I read the obituary in the Telegraph and just wanted to send along my condolences. I made a career of teaching on the island but am now living on the beautiful Belleisle Bay. Hope all is well with you...Judi (Ingersoll) Ingalls

Condolences...Your mom has been a part of my world for over 55 years. As a child I remember her as a trusted and good neighbor. Later as an adult I got to reconnect with her after mom moved here from Penticton. For over 10 years (she would be 79-89) her visits to BC were to Salmon Arm where Sandy, Mom and I all lived and thoroughly enjoyed your mom's annual month long visit. We always shared great adventures some of the last included: lunch atop Kicking Horse Mtn. via gondola ( Rocky Mountains near Golden BC) ;Family Thanksgiving turkey dinner served outside on the wilderness Nesconlith Lake; A '3 old ladys' ' and me on a 3 day road trip to Christina Lake in southern B.C. Your mom walked over a km. along a mountain trail to enjoy a look out (Lois you may have been on that walk?), we played cards and had fun. Anyhow I miss her and her visits immensely as did mom. She always was game for adventure as long as she could pack her knitting. I loved her and I cherish her memory. Very sorry for your loss...it is large. Love Carol Ann and Family

Please accept my sympathy in the passing of your mother. I had never met her but read her obituary with interest as my mother is Nancy Agnes Cairns and she was born in Scotland in 1920. Her family came to Canada by ship in 1929. I found it interesting that there were so many similarities. I also saw your mother had a daughter, Shirley and my mother has a daughter Shirley (me) as well. I did have a question - was Nancy her given name or a nickname. My mom's given name is Agnes but her family always called her "Nan" which eventually lengthened to "Nancy". I wondered if that was a common Scottish thing. Once again, my sympathies. It sounds as if she had a life well lived filled with many family, past-times and travel. Sincerely, Shirley Keith
