Obituary of Bernard Ronald Quinlan
It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Bernard Ronald Quinlan, loving husband of Jean Anne (Hayes) Quinlan, which occurred peacefully on March 1, 2017 at Embassy Hall, surrounded by his family. Bernard was born on May 12, 1928 in Saint John, NB, he was the youngest son of the late Gratton and Margaret (McAuley) Quinlan.
Bernard was a heavy equipment Operator for 31 years with the Dept. of Transportation, Loch Lomond. He took great pride in his job, especially plowing many a winter storms, before his retirement in 1992. He also enjoyed many years of trailering around St. Martins, playing horseshoes and cards with his long time friends Junior and Nony Dunn.
Bernard will be sadly missed by his loving wife Jean of 62 years. His two daughters Gail Friars (Glen) and Sandra Blackadar (Eric), his much loved grandchildren, Kyle Friars (Melissa), Scott Friars, Sarah Blackadar (Steve Mason) and Ryan Blackadar, his three great grandsons, Braydon and Reed Friars and Logan Mason, they were all adored by him. His brother Harold Quinlan (Harriet), sister Marjorie Cosman, many nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to his parents, Bernard was predeceased by his brothers Daniel, Arthur, Walter, Gordon, sister Carmel, brother- in-laws Ralph Cosman, Ken Dallon, sister-in-law Doris Quinlan.
Bernard's family would like to thank all staff at Embassy Hall for the excellent care and compassion over the past several months, we are very grateful.
Following cremation, visitation will be held from Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (506) 849-2119 on Sunday, March 5 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral service will take place at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 10 AM. A private family interment will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Diabetes Assoc., John T. McMillan JR. Memorial Foundation, or charity of the donor's choice.
