David and I were best friends for the years leading into adolescence. He was a little older than me and way more confident and I really looked up to him. We listened to hours of music together, comedy records, talked for hours. He was like an older brother to me and hugely influential on that part of my life.
One summer I was invited on his family trip to Ottawa and we explored the city and its record shops. Years later when I moved to Ottawa I thought about those days often.
I will always remember him with fondness and gratitude. I'm so sorry for your loss.
