Obituary of Lawrence Evan Walker

Lawrence Evan Walker of Rothesay passed away peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital with his family at his side on Saturday, August 26, 2017. Born in Minto on July 10, 1926, Larry was the son of the late Hazel (Flowers) and Henry Whysal Walker. Larry worked as a pipefitter for many years with the Atlantic Sugar Refinery before retiring after a second career with the Saint John School Board in 1991. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch #69) and greatly enjoyed participating in their functions as well as time spent with good friends. Larry was a husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who loved spending time with his family and getting a "Big Squeeze" (hug) from his grandsons. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Shirley (Risk) Walker of Rothesay; son Wayne Walker (Trudy); two grandsons, Mitchell and Colton Walker; several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Larry was predeceased by brothers Max Walker, Donald Walker and sister Shirley Carlton. Resting at the Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 29th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Rothesay. Interment to follow at Saint Joseph's Cemetery in Saint John. In lieu of flowers, donations in Larry's memory can be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Building Fund or to the Neurology Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital.
