Obituary of Lily Gilliland
The death of Lily Gilliland, wife of the late R. King Gilliland, occurred on Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Kennebec Manor, Saint John.
Born in Hoyt, NB on April 19, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Alton and Violet (Morrison) Byers. She was a member of St. Augustine's Church, Quispamsis, and the Carleton Choristers. Lily enjoyed gardening, sewing and decorating. Lily is survived by her sons; Douglas (Bernice) of Miramichi City, NB, and Tracey (Lovely) of Doaktown, NB, daughters; Deborah Jarvis (Michael) of Passekeag, NB, and Tabitha Maidment (Chris) of Quispamsis, sisters; Adelaide Drew (Donald) of Saint John, Chrissie Pike of PEI, and Skeena Forret of Quispamsis, brother Charles Byers (Mary) of Penobsquis, NB, grandchildren; Tina Goguen, Shirley MacDonald, Darlene Dignam, Sheldon Jarvis, Shane Jarvis, Nathan Maidment, Drew Maidment, and Nadean Gilliland, eleven great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, Lily was predeceased by her brother Ransford Byers.
As per Lily's request there will be no visitation. A private family funeral service was held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). Interment was held at Holy Trinity Anglican Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
