Obituary of William Homeney

It is with great sadness that the family of William (Bill) John Homeney announces his sudden passing on Tuesday, February 10, 2015. William, the son of the late Matthew and Katie Mae (Melanson) Homeney, was born on August 22, 1929 in Bloomfield. William was loving husband to the late Jennie (Newell) Homeney. He will be greatly missed by his sons; Douglas (Sharon) of Bloomfield, William-Bill (Gisele -Jay) of Quispamsis; daughters; Cynthia (Cindy) of Rothesay, Susan (Andy) Corey of Salisbury; son in law; John Hartley; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; sister; Bernice (Bob) Green of Salisbury; brother and sister by choice; John (lucky) Splude & Dianne LeBlanc also by special friend; Blanche Roberts and several nieces & nephews. William was predeceased by infant son; Peter; daughter; Jennifer Ann; great grandson; Tyler; brothers; Jim & David. Bill and Jennie lived on 13 Clark Road in Fairvale for over 40 years. He was a member of First Brighton Field Royal Canadian Engineer. While living in Fairvale he was a village counselor and worked on many village projects, including help build the Fairvale Outing Association. He worked at McAvity's for over 20 years and then moved over to Irving Paper as an industrial millwright, retiring in 1990. He was a life member and one of the original founding members of the Island View Lions Club in Quispamsis. As District Governor travelling to Hong Kong, Australia, Hawaii, as well as many states and provinces. Bill and Jennie weathered many winters in Florida. In 2012 Dad knocked off from his bucket list a trip to the Grand Canyon, Hoover Dam and the Vegas strip. He loved his Bellisle Bay, boating, gardening, snowmobiling. Dad was an avid crib player. You would find Dad many nights at dusk on the beach watching many beautiful sunsets Finishing with a great bonfire with family and friends. Bill was a lifetime member of Island View Lion's Club (Quispamsis) being a founding member. He held many club positions from President, Secretary, Zone Chairman and District Governor of 41.0. William will be resting at the Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home with visitation on Saturday and Sunday, February 14 and 15 from 2:00-4:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM. A funeral service will be held Monday, February 16, 2015 at St. Augustine's Anglican Church, Quispamsis Rd. at 11:00 AM. A private family interment will take place at Christ Church Cemetery at a later date. Donations in William’s memory to the Lions Foundation of Canada, Juvenile Diabetes or to the donor's choice.
