Obituary of Pearl McKay
Surrounded by her family, Florence "Pearl" (DeBow) McKay, loving wife of 72 years to the late William "Bill" McKay, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on November 12, 1926 she was a daughter of the late Douglas and Ethel (MaHaney) DeBow.
Pearl dedicated her time to her family and children. She enjoyed gardening as a hobby. She was an active member of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Hammond River and a founding member of the KV Quilt Guild, established in 1980 with 17 members. Next to family, quilting was her favourite passion.
Pearl was a devoted mother to her six children: Bill (Wendy), Cheryl Deasington, Deborah Milton (Lawrence Cody), Doug (Joanne), Peter McKay and Michael McKay. She is also survived by her siblings: Norma Richardson, Bill DeBow, Ann Hughes; 15 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her siblings, Doug DeBow, Betty DeBow, Shirley McGovern and Patsy Williston.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 11, 2019 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). The funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Church, 2 Hammond River Road, Quispamsis on Friday, July 12 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Holy Trinity Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Pearl may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB or a charity of the donor's choice.
