Obituary of Mabel Ruth Spencer

The death of Mabel Ruth Spencer, wife of the late Douglas Spencer, occurred peacefully on Thursday, July 11, 2019 at Rocmaura Nursing Home.

Born on July 30, 1921, in Souris, PEI, she was a daughter of the late James and Ida (McLellan) Grant.

Mabel was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mabel is survived by her children; Colleen Thomson (Dugald) of Quispamsis, and Brent (Marie) of Fredericton, grandchildren; Jason (Leah), Kurt (Shelly), and Melissa Mallais (Andre), great grandchildren; Rowan, Cameron, Chloe Spencer, daughter in law, Janice Spencer of Calgary, AB, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Doug (1993), Mabel was predeceased by her son Gerald Spencer (2018), daughter in law, Brenda Spencer (2010), and son in law, Norman Vautour (1985), as well as her brothers and sisters.

In keeping with Mabel's wishes, there will be no visiting. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church  on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at 11AM. Family will receive friends at the Church at 10:15 AM. Interment to take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Building Fund or to Diabetes Canada.
