Obituary of Gilbert Manly Black
Surrounded by his family, Gilbert "Gil" Manly Black, age 71, loving husband of 44 years to Margaret "Peggy" (Reid) Black, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born on December 11, 1947 in Holtville, NB, he was the son of the late, Margaret Black (Walter Lyons).
Gil loved watching cooking and trucking shows, especially "Highway Thru Hell". He spent many exciting adventures going snowmobiling and spending time at the camp with family and friends. He enjoyed listening to country music, and listening to Louis L'Amour audiobooks. Truly a family man, Gil cherished every moment with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Peggy, Gil is survived by his children, Robert "Rob" (Jackie) Black, Anthony (Stephanie) Black, Michael (Aimee) Black, Rosanne (Glen) Rollins; his brothers, Dale "Willie" (Petra) Lyons, Darrell (Lesley) Lyons; sisters, Sereta Hinchey, Nancy (Gerald) Gorman, and Sharon Drost; grandchildren, Sarah, Jonah, Madison, Abby, Gavin, Mila, Dallas and Brinley. Gil was predeceased by his mother and step-father, Margaret Black and Walter Lyons; daughter, Melissa Black; brother, Steven "Tub" Black, and sister, Betty Moore.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Friday, August 2, 2019, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral Service will be held at Kennebecasis Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Interment will take place at St. Luke's Cemetery. Reception to follow at St. Augustine's Anglican Church on 239 Quispamsis Road. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a Living Memorial to assist Gil's wife Peggy. If you wish to make an etransfer to the Living Memorial to go to Peggy, you can send your etransfer to her son, Michael at: mikemblack@hotmail.com and please make the password Gilbert.
