Candy - it was with great sadness that we learned of the Passing of Al. He fought a long battle with cancer and it is hard to imagine what Al, you and your family, have gone through in the past number of years. We have seen you and Al a number of times during this battle, and you were always an inspiration with your positive attitude and outlook. Always looking to the positive. We want to offer our sincere sympathy and prayers to you and your family. Terry & Paula Ryan

I was sadden to learn about Al's passing. I knew him from his time at Point Lepreau, and he was always a gentlemen to work with and to get to know. I always enjoyed discussing hockey with him and we respected each other's "misguided" allegiance to our favourite teams. My condolences to his family and friends.

I have fond memories of the time I was partnered with Al at Fredericton GIS on the 1970's.
Al had many admirable qualities. Considerate, agreeable, cheerful and friendly are a few that come to mind.
In his work environment he always exemplified fairness, integrity and impartiality. But it was his love and support for his family that was paramount to everything.
I also had the pleasure of curling with Al in Police Curling. And Linda and I enjoyed our time in NFLD with Al and Candy at the National Police Curling Championship.
Yes, Al will be missed. They don't make many like him anymore. Rest in Peace, Al.
Our sincerest condolences to Candy and Family.

So sad to hear of Al's passing. Having not worked with Al while in the RCMP I certainly met him many times socially and competitively in the roaring game of curling. He was always the perfect gentleman win or lose. He volunteered many hours for the New Brunswick Police Curling Association and was appointed a "Life Member" at the Canadian Championships in Fredericton. His kind steady hand will be missed by all who worked and played with him. A true gentleman.

Candy I am so sorry to hear of your loss, I know Alan meant a lot to you as he did to so many others in his life. We worked together as well as being neighbour’s in Oromocto for many years and I couldn’t ask for a better partner and neighbour. After Oromocto we went in different directions in the RCMP but kept in touch through Police Curling. In 2003 I received a call from Alan asking me if I would be interested in joining a newly formed armed security force for Point Lepreau. I took him up on that offer and we once again became work buds. After 12 years at Point Lepreau I retired and we kept our friendship through Police Curling, where his enormous input was so much appreciated. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.

To Candy and your extended family. Al and I went back so many years in policing in NB from the 60's and in our common love of police curling over 10 decades - we were lucky enough to play across Canada a few times. In reflection, I was so pleased to spend some quality time with you both last March at the Nationals here in St. John's - both of us had given up our 'playing days'...but obviously our love of the game and our memories were still strong! His powerful shoulders could take a stone further than anyone I had ever curled with. I've attached a picture of a memorable game in Hamilton in 2004. God bless you my friend. RIP
