Dear Judy and Family. I wish all of you my sincerest condolences. I spent my very early years growing up a block away from you before you moved to Rothesay. I was glad to speak with Judy and Pat at my mother's (Elizabeth Flood) memorial service at Shadow Lawn. I was struck by Pat's sincerity and thoughtfulness.

Mr. Grannan,
I believe I only had the pleasure to meet you once, but I attended St. F.X. with your children Pat, Ann and Jane. Each one of them was a pleasure to know and each was a bright light at St. F.X. Your son Pat especially inherited your great qualities.
Although you are probably now settled in heaven and enjoying angelic coffee with your many friends, we will light a candle for you back here on earth at St. Mike's parish in Calgary for the repose of your sole.
St. Francis Xavier, pray for us.
Joe and Erin Bradford
Calgary, Alberta

Judy,
So sad to hear about Pat. I only got to know him, and you, in recent years, but I must acknowledge that Pat was such a dear friend to my dad, and an inspiration to me. It seems only a little while ago that I was with you and Pat. I will never forget how you fed an unexpected traveller from the other side of the country a roast-beef dinner, or the look on your face when Pat and I returned home from the hospital.
Thinking of you.
Clifford (and the rest of the Fraser Clan).

One of the Christmas highlights each year was to visit my God parents, Pat and Judy on Rockland Road. Trish and I had so much fun running around in the attic with Stephen, Pat, Ann and Jane! I remember as a kid, how nice Pat was and how huge his hands were!
Any Saint Johner I had ever met over the years, knew Pat Grannan and ALWAYS commented on what a nice guy he was!
We were both (Dave and I) very sad to hear of his passing and know he will be missed dearly.
Sincere sympathy to Judy, Stephen, "Tall Pat", Ann and Jane.

I am very sorry for your family's loss. My sister Barbara O'Neil will write something on behalf of me and my siblings, but I just wanted to share one thing. Pat as everyone knows was a great story-teller, and very charismatic. I was completely charmed by him at the funeral of our father, Art O'Neil. Pat was a great admirer of our father and his stories somehow made Dad's passing easier to process.
I am a professional story-teller and I would later draw on Pat's vivid memory for this story pasted below. One woman wrote to me saying it made her cry.

I will always remember Pat as a kind and gentle person who was an awesome friend. I met him through politics and liked the many stories he would tell. I especially remember the story he told about being in university. He and a couple of pals came upon a small car parked on the road. They wondered if the car would fit between the two poles on the side of the road so they picked the car up and placed it between the two poles then walked away. I wonder who the owner was and how he got his car out!
