Obituary of James Kierstead Campbell
It is with great appreciation of a life well lived, with family by his side, the family of James Kierstead “Buddy” Campbell, loving husband of the late Doreen (Arthurs) Campbell, announce his death on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born on May 1, 1926, in Saint John, he was the son of the late James and Isabella (Kierstead) Campbell.
Buddy was a veteran of WWII serving in the Army. During his working years, Buddy was a Fire Fighter with the Saint John Fire Department, owned J & J Plumbing, was a foreman at Saint John Dry Dock, and worked at the Irving Pulp Mill. He was a faithful member of Harmony (Glenview) United Church and Saint John Presbytery for many years. Buddy was a member of the Orange Lodge, Oddfellows Lodge, Masonic Lodge, and the Eastern Star. He loved watching his family and numerous pets grow and cherished every moment with them. Buddy and Doreen enjoyed travelling and trailering with family and friends.
Buddy’s family wishes to thank the staff, nurses and recreation team of Loch Lomond Villa for their care and compassion towards Buddy and Doreen. They truly added great value to both Buddy and Doreen’s lives and have gone above and beyond for our family. We are forever grateful.
Buddy is survived by his daughter Rev. Linda Fuller (Joe) of Quispamsis, and son Kim Campbell (Lori) of Saint John, grandchildren; Shannon Fuller, Brad Fuller (Tracey), Jay Fuller (Tina), and Erica Scott (Kevin), great grandchildren; Alana, Lucas, Noemie, Matthew, Maggy, Kayla, Kenzie, Kiona, and Kennedy, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his wife, Buddy is predeceased by his brothers; Donald in infancy, Lloyd, and Robert.
Arrangements under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). Celebration of Buddy’s life will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020 at 11:00 AM from Harmony United Church, 8 Upland Road (off of John T. McMillan Ave.), Saint John. For those who are unable to attend, the service will be livestreamed at https://youtu.be/CshAwEU-MZ4
Staff will be available at the main entrance to greet and assist with Covid-19 protocol. Masks or face coverings are mandatory. Interment for Buddy and Doreen will be held at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Harmony United Church or to the Loch Lomond Villa Recreation Fund.
