Your Granddaughter, Lily posted a condolence

Granny, it has been only a year and a half and I miss you oh so dearly; your kind nature, your charming wit, and even your two extra pockets! I miss hugging you and brushing your hair. I miss singing to you. And I wish you were here. I remember coming out to you; how I was so nervous and you were so sweet. You told me "As long as the person you're with treats you well, and loves you the exact same amount, then I am happy for you." I couldn't have asked for a sweeter response. But that's you; sweet as a blueberry pie. And I love you. Rest easy my love.

This is a beautiful tribute to a amazing strong woman. Her influence is still spreading through those she leaves behind: her children and all the next generations to come. Reading this makes me appreciate your loss and the devotion I have seen from the family members I am blessed to meet and know first through Jean, Jolene and kids. My condolences to all the family . God bless you all.

So very saddened by your Mum's passing. I consider myself amongst the lucky ones to have been invited to sleepovers and have so many happy memories of your warm, witty and oh-so- funny family. Your Mum was totally unflappable despite the chaos of kids around and it makes me smile to think of her impish grin and dry wit. Her hands were constantly moving - usually floured with pastry or stirring a pot - and she always smelled of baking and warmth and love. I will treasure the selfless hours she spent handsewing my gorgeous wedding dress (with the forty satin buttons down the back!) - she made me feel like a princess, and very loved. Such a special woman has left this earth but I know she'll be happy to be resting with Bruce. Love to you all, Heidi

Steve and I send our heart felt condolences to all of Joan's family. I worked with Joan as a student nurse at the General Hospital, 1975-74. She was my mentor and taught me what team nursing really meant. We met again 20 years later when Steve took me to her house. I didn't know it was her home at the time. What a great time we had talking about old times. She was still that warm, kind, fun-loving person I so fondly remembered. Joan was a "rock" and a testiment to what a good human being is all about. To know her was to love her. We will miss you my friend.

Thoughts have been with you as the family gathers to celebrate and reminisce the life that was Joan's. She and Bruce were such a fine example of love everlasting and 'til Death do us part. I am sure the past six months have been hard with the limits on visits which would have been hard. Her struggles are over and she can rest in peace and be reunited with Bruce. Love to you all

I retired from Irving Pulp & Paper in July 2002 after 30.96 years and was I was a Pipe fitter/ Union member and on the Central Safety Committee for 20 years and during that time many nurses came and went because of the way the management treated them and then they hired Joan. Joan was the best and most experienced nurse we ever had because she had the ability to deal with management. People could go to her with their personal problems and knew what they told her would go no further. She was a great lady.

My aunt and uncle were living near us in Pines Falls Manitoba when I was a little girl so we we saw them a lot and share many family. Always optimistic and nothing ever phased her or my uncle. They were good together. She was always caring and hereto is in all she did. My last memory is looking up family recipes in their home in New Brunswick when uncle Bruce was still able to care for her at home. May her soul Rest In Peace and perpetual light shine upon her. her loving niece Jackie

To all the Halpin children and families:
It was a lovely tribute to your mother in the TJ-it described her to a T. I never knew her to be anything but calm, welcoming and just a lovely person. It has been a long journey for you all and for her. You will miss her but you know she is at peace. Sending hugs to you all.

Rest assured, She is one of God's Flock now. Probably looking out for every one there. My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. Rest in Peace Joan
