Obituary of Rick Mowry
It is with great sadness and terrible loss that we announce the passing of Richard Charles Mowry of Saint John who passed away at the Sussex Health Care Centre on Wednesday, March 10, 2021, surrounded by warmth and an abundance of love. Born in Saint John October 14, 1954 he was the son of the late John Mowry and Laura Mowry (Allain). His transition from this life will forever leave an unfilled gap in the life of his adoring wife of 33 years Jo-Anne Mowry. He also leaves behind his brother Mark Mowry; sister-in-law Carmen Mowry; his sister Judy Cathline and brother in law Lloyd Cathline; sister in law Pam Cole; sister in law Maxine Martin; sister in law Jessie Comeau and brother in law Rick Martin; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews
True to his nature, his dedication is exemplified by his 45 years of service to his employer Clow Canada. He retired at 63 and went on to rebuild their cottage in Belleisle into a permanent home where they had spent many happy years creating lasting memories for family and friends alike. Summers on their beach swimming, canoeing and relaxing. Winters were just as endearing as they watched ice-fishing and skating in front of their home. One of his greatest joys was the extensive travelling throughout USA and Canada with his wife and friends. He loved his 65 Fast Back Mustang, and you could see him cruising throughout the valley and Belleisle area on those sunny summer days.
Rick was an extremely humble man with simple desires. He was the one you wanted on your team. In your time of need, he was the first one there- no questions asked. His acts of kindness to everyone he met are recounted by many. His heart was his greatest asset and those who were in his life knew they were truly blessed by his presence and friendship. The pure gentleness of his character and his honest nature held no room for unkindness towards others. Should we all be so blessed. This world has lost one of it’s very best.
A special heartfelt and sincere thanks to our very tightknit families, our amazing circle of friends and our neighbors. Throughout his year of illness and during Covid, we felt your arms wrapped around us in unconditional love. When Rick could no longer do things for himself, you all stepped in to take over and you kept us safe. Each time we fought to find the light in our darkest hours, your love found it’s way back to us and guided us through that darkness
A special mention to Dr. Rudall Davis and Dr. Nadine Plummer of Bayside Natural Health Center in Baie Ste Anne. When western medicine was not an option, your support and guidance gave Rick an extra 11 months of life. We will remain forever grateful for that time.
In honor of his memory, we request you take a page from the book of Ricks life and simply be kind to each other. Be there when others need you with no expectations and no exceptions. That is capturing the essence of this amazing man.
As your soul begins this journey Rick, know that the love and respect you so easily gained here on earth will follow you through eternity.

Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). In keeping with Rick’s wishes, visitation and Celebration of his life will be private. Those unable to attend, a livestream of Rick’s service can be viewed at 1PM on Monday, March 15, 2021, on his obituary at www.kennebecasisfh.com. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Bayside Natural Health Centre, would be appreciated. Interment to take place at a later date.
