Obituary of Colette Florence Gillespie
The death of Colette Gillespie of Quispamsis, wife of Bill Gillespie, occurred Wednesday, June 11th, 2008, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Kitchener, ON, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Johanna (Walter) Erard. Besides her husband, Bill, Colette is also survived by three daughters, Dale Gillespie (Ron) of Newmarket, ON, Andrea Doley (Brad) of Rothesay and Janet Gillespie (Bill) of Newmarket, ON; one son, Jim Gillespie (Annette) of Pickering, ON; one sister, Yvonne Gardner (Orval) of Stratford, ON; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one son-in-law, Dan McIntyre. Colette will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife to Bill and mother to her four children, nine grandchildren and her first newly arrived great grandson. Colette was a full-time mother but did find time to enjoy a good game of bridge with her friends. In later years she was employed at Sears where she found pleasure helping customers. Colette's Christian faith was very important to her as evidenced by the church family she found wherever she lived. For the last 45 years she was an active member of St. David's United Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Select Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Saturday from 2-5 p.m. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 15th, 2008 at St. David’s United Church in Rothesay, at 2:00 p.m. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, St. David’s United Church or the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation.
