Obituary of Helen Grace Smith
The death of Helen Grace Smith of Long Reach, NB, widow of Joseph D. Smith, occurred on August 31st, 2009 at Kings Way Care Centre, Quispamsis. Born in Saint John, on May 7th, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Geneva (Fraser) Short. Helen was a member of St. James Anglican Church and W. A., Maritime Fiddle Association, Kingston Friendship Group and was a founding member of Peninsula Pearls Senior Citizens. Helen enjoyed all types of music, especially fiddle music, and spent countless hours listening to her CD’s and DVD’s. She is survived by one son, Fraser Smith (Noeline), Long Reach; one daughter, Sylvia Campbell (Archie), Riverview; one sister, Joyce Newstead (Don), Summerville; four grandchildren, Melanie and Bonnie Campbell, Shannon Smith-Eckman and Leah Smith; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one grandson, Evan Smith. The family will receive visitors at Kennebecasis Select Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road on Wednesday, September 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 3rd, 2009 at St. James Anglican Church, Long Reach, at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
