Obituary of Robert Bernard Marginson

It is with great sadness that the family of Robert “Bob” Marginson of Quispamsis, NB, husband of Ellen (Jones) Marginson, announce his passing on Friday, 26 March 2010 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lachine, PQ he was the son of the late Bernard and Leah (Tapping) Marginson. Bob served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1960 to 1963 while stationed in Halifax. Throughout his life Bob was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Kennebecasis Branch #58. He served as President for the past two years and was also Zone Commander of the Royal District. Bob was extremely proud of his thirty-three year long commitment to the Legion. At his time of retirement, he had been employed with NB Power for twenty-two years. Bob was a very talented artist, who had accomplished over fifty years of art work and will be remembered for his many humorous caricatures for various family, friends and companies in the Saint John and surrounding areas. He was a member of the Sussex, St. Paul’s and Saint John Art Clubs and also belonged to the Fundy Gallery of Art. Bob enjoyed nature, camping and watching movies. Bob loved his family, especially his precious grandchildren who will always remember their grandfather as playful and loving. He will be sadly missed by his family and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. Bob is survived by his wife Ellen; his daughter Kathy, at home; his son Joel (Penny) of Petawawa, ON; daughter-in-law Trudy of Victoria, BC; brother Barry (Stella) of Ontario; six grandchildren, Reilly, Dylan, Keven, Nicholas, Alexa and Derek; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Bob was also predeceased by his son, Jeff and two sisters June and Bernice. Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB, (506) 849-2119, where visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A Legion Tribute will take place on Sunday evening at 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held from Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, 29 March 2010 at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Kirk Hill Cemetery, Sussex, at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
