Obituary of John Alexander Higgins
John Alexander Higgins passed away at Embassy Hall Nursing Home in Quispamsis, NB on Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the age of 90. John was born in Quispamsis, NB and was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Higgins (nee Buckley). Loving husband of the late Mary Eileen Higgins (nee Stilwell). Beloved father of Jack (Sarah) of Quispamsis, Arthur of Salisbury, Bob (Debbie) of Quispamsis and Betty Saunders (David) of Quispamsis. He will be missed by his grandchildren Art (Julie), Mark (Rachel), Kevin (Chrissy), Kristen (Matt), Katherine, Shelly (Rick), Amy, Bobby and great grandchildren Matthew, Olivia, Levi, Anna, Addison. Predeceased by his brother William and sister Theresa. John was a dairy farmer for over 50 years before retirement in 1997. He was an insurance agent at Fundy Mutual for many years and served on their board of directors, as well as being a councilor for the Town of Quispamsis. John enjoyed attending the fall fairs, horse hauling, following politics and dancing. In his later years he really enjoyed time spent at the cottage with family and friends. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (506) 849-2119, where friends will be received on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Marks Roman Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB on Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at 10 am. Interment at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Cemetery. In John’s memory, expressions of sympathy made to the charity of choice, would be appreciated by the family.
