It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Martin Power of Saint John, NB, husband of Adrienne (Boucher) which occurred on Friday, January 6, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Bathurst on January 26, 1948, he was the son of the late Martin and Vera Power (Firlotte). In addition to his wife of 38 years, Adrienne, he is also survived by three daughters, Lisa Power of Minneapolis, Michelle Power (Craig Shaw) of Quispamsis and Colleen Adams (Sean) of Dieppe; grandchildren, Ben, Brooke and Asher; sisters, Catherine Power, Elaine Moore (John), Margaret Campbell (Colin) all of Halifax and Pat Houle (Barry) of Ottawa; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Mary Nickerson (Kenny). Martin was a very devoted husband and father who had a very successful career in the grocery business but always put family first. He spent 17 years in Quispamsis where he raised his family. He had a wonderful sense of humour, was a great storyteller, enjoyed salmon fishing in the Miramichi and playing cribbage and 200. His second home was his beloved cottage in Cap-de-Cocagne where he spent many summers. Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. Vigil Prayers will be held Sunday at 8:00 PM, at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, on Monday, January 9, 2012, at 10:00 AM.
