Obituary of Ronald Harry Smith
Ron Smith of Rothesay, husband of the late Edith (Chapman) Smith, passed away peacefully in the loving care of Bobby’s Hospice on Sunday, January 29th, 2012. Born in Titusville on February 1st, 1932, he was the son of the late Henry and Olive (Tays) Smith. Prior to his retirement, Ron was employed as a plumber. He enjoyed vegetable gardening and was famous for growing huge potatoes. Ron was truly a creature of habit, who took great pride in the simple things life offered. He always enjoyed a good game of cards and loved making pickles. Ron is survived by one sister, Freda Long of Bloomfield; one brother, Richard (Marion) of the Kingston Peninsula; step-son, Doug Logan; granddaughters, Terri Logan and Susan Meurling; grandsons, Mark Logan and Shane Logan; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-granddaughters; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Ina Mercer and Gladys Buchanan; as well as step-son, Bernard Joseph Logan. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119 with visitation from 12:30 – 1:30 PM on Thursday, February 2nd, 2012, which will be immediately followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM. Interment will take place in Ocean View Memorial Gardens, Saint John. For those who wish, donations may be made to Bobby’s Hospice, Heart and Stroke Foundation of NB or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
