Obituary of D. Elaine Steeves

The death of D. Elaine Steeves of Quispamsis, beloved wife of Brian Steeves, occurred Tuesday, May 29th, 2012, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on November 23rd, 1964, she was the daughter of Wilfred and Lola (Smith) Steeves. Elaine absolutely adored her family and dedicated her life to caring for them. Her gentle nature, compassionate ways and thoughtfulness will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Elaine enjoyed her time spent volunteering at the Pregnancy Resource Center of Saint John and treasured the many special friendships she made there. In her younger years, she was active in church choir. Currently, she attended Hampton Baptist Church. Elaine loved spending time by the water, scrapbooking, writing poetry, helping others and fellowship with small group Bible study. She will always be remembered as a special and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. Besides her husband, Brian and parents, Wilfred and Lola, she is also survived by her precious sons, Ben (fiancée, Shawnesty Smith), Michael and Jonathan (girlfriend, Kayla Jenkins); sister, Gwen Chase (Jeff); in-laws, Douglas and Carolyn Steeves; grandmother, Laura Hoar; sister-in-law, Wanda; brother-in-law, Brad (Tracey); nieces, Katelynn Chase, Rachael and Ashlynn Steeves; nephew, Curtis Chase; many special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Elaine was predeceased by an infant son, Joey; maternal grandparents, Oscar and Delia Smith; paternal grandparents, Dawson and Bessie Steeves; grandfather, Gerald Hoar; as well as grandparents, Austin and Willa Steeves. Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Thursday, May 31st, 2012 from 7-9 PM and the following day, Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held at Hampton Baptist Church, 776 Main Street, Hampton, on Saturday, June 2nd, 2012, at 11:00 AM. Immediately following the service, a reception will be held at the church hall. Interment will take place in Steeves Settlement Cemetery at 4:00 PM.
