Obituary of Norman George Newton
The death of Norm Newton of Quispamsis, beloved husband of Carol (Steinman) Newton, occurred on Monday, July 23rd, 2012, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Ottawa on March 11th, 1932, he was the son of the late Norman and Dorothea (Bastedo) Newton. Prior to his retirement, Norm was employed in management with Sears. He enjoyed volunteering with Carol at Meals on Wheels and looked forward to his daily walks around McAllister Place Mall. Norm will always be fondly remembered and sadly missed. Besides his loving wife, Carol, Norm is also survived by his children, Russell (Donna) of Fredericton, Cheryl McKay (Norman) of Rothesay, Michael (Andria) of Kingston, ON and Darrell (Karen) of Prescott, ON; special grandchildren, Jay, Jeannie, Jennifer, Michael, Jessica, Josh, Emily, Sarah, Hannah and Hillary and precious great-grandchildren, Gracie, Melody, Shawna and Hunter. Norm was predeceased by his brother, Harry. As per the family’s request, no visitation will be held. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 31 Gondola Point Road, Rothesay, on Thursday, July 26th, 2012, at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Cemetery. A reception will immediately follow the interment, at the church hall. Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
