Obituary of Doreen E. (Stanley) (Worden) Burns

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Doreen E. Burns (Stanley) (Worden) announces her peaceful passing which occurred on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Shannex, Quispamsis. Doreen was born on February 19, 1935, in Rothesay, NB and was the daughter of the late, James and Marion (Lawrence) Burns.

Doreen had the most beautiful English garden at her home, full of bridges, mirrors, ponds, reflecting balls, beautiful flowers and a little yellow cottage. She was an avid lover of deer and small wildlife with her garden providing sanctuary for her wee animals. She loved her cats and dogs and in her final years pictures of animals would bring a smile to her face.

She will be missed by her children: Steven (Darlene) Stanley, Debra (Robert Irwin) Stanley, Tammy (Rick) Cassidy, Tina (Vincent) Frost and Sharon (Wayne) Hatfield; sisters Florence (Dennis) Tyler, Josephine Sleigh; and brother in law, Barry Kilpatrick; beloved grandchildren: Shane and Jeremy Stanley, Jillian Thomson, Rory and Erin Cassidy, Gabriel and Chloé Boudreau, Tess and Erik Hatfield; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Logan and Carter Stanley; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, and brothers Robert “Bobby” and James “Jimmy”  Burns; sister, Gloria Kilpatrick, brothers in law, Kenneth Sleigh and Guy Tyler; and her nephew, Mark Tyler.

Doreen's family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Shannex Embassy Hall, Quispamsis and St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home in Saint John, for their kindness and compassion shown to Doreen throughout the years. 

Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). A private graveside service will take place in Riverbank Cemetery. Donations made in memory of Doreen may be made to the Alzheimer Society of NB, SPCA, Arthritis Society of NB, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
