Janice, Craig, & Karen : The example of a mother is lived out in her children. I remember your Mom fondly. Always kind, happy, & excited about things in her life. She was one who always had a word to say that made your day better. She left you a great example for you to follow, a life for Jesus. The comfort comes from knowing she is with her Jesus, who she faithfully served. This is not a good by, yet it is, Vera we will see you soon. Enter into the presence of the LORD, thou good & faithful servant of GOD

Janice, Craig, Karen (and families) - your mom was well loved as your family is a testament to that...and, she was such a sweet and kind lady and the 3 of you are a testament to that! I also loved her smile and gentleness each time we spoke. I am sorry for your loss as she will be missed greatly - to each of you a send a hug! My thoughts and prayers have been with you - especially over this week!

My precious memories of Vera MacDougall stem back into the early 70's when she and Charlie came with a small group of people, in their church van, to observe bunk bed cribs, designed and crafted by John Walker for our tiny church nursery. I was doing janitorial work and was the only one to greet them. I showed them through the entire church- in 5 minutes.
When, about 5-6 years later, the MacDougalls returned to attend RBC, we instantly became friends and grew closer through our husbands (besties), mutual old friends, and our children in RBCS. We attended many social events at church, political environments and often went on short (and long) drives together. She was so excited to take us to Janice and Jamie's camp and show me the faces they had nailed onto the tree trunks.
Vera and I played Scabble, not win against each other exactly, but to jointly get large scores. We didn't consider it a "good game" unless our score was at least 625. Vera kept records which show that we on a few occasions, got well over a 700 score. We talked often and for hours at a time, on the telephone but on several occasions, found the need to get out. Neither of us had a lot of spending money so we took cookies and tea from home and parked on the back entrance roadside behind the Dolan Road Irving and chatted- laughing, crying, reminiscing, mentoring and encouraging one another, in the Lord. That was Our Place.
Vera loved her family unconditionally and shared about your closeness and love towards her. Ronny and Tim had worked together. Then Ronny passed away on Tim's birthday. She and Tim always called each other on May 31. What a glorious hope we have as we contemplate seeing them again with Jesus as He promised.
When Vera got "really ill" a few years ago, she looked at life a little differently and our relationship seemed to change. We called each other less frequently. Three days before she passed, she delightfully called and left a beautiful message for me to call her "in an afternoon- no other time". I am so sorry that I was away and not able to get back to her "in time". Her messaged had sounded like my dear old friend once had.
To Janice, Craig, Karen, and your family, please accept my sincere condolences, as you grieve the passing of your Mom, grandmother and sister. May the God of all comfort rest and abide in your hearts. 1st Thess. 4:17. Much love, Charline Hooper (Powell),

Mrs MacDougall was my second Mom away from home. I will always remember her lovely smile and generous heart; and her concern for me not always wanting to eat my breakfast before sunday school. I know she will be greatly missed by all of her family & friends. ❤ Deepest Condolences to the MacDougall, Boyd and Reynold's families.

I was a caregiver of Vera’s, and her kindness and thoughtfulness will forever have an impact on my life. She was the best scrabble partner, there was rarely a time she didn’t win! I will miss her dearly, she will be in my thoughts and prayers. My condolences to her friends and family, she always spoke highly of everyone in her life, and I know she felt lucky to have you all.
