Obituary of Colin James Downs
It is with heartfelt sorrow, the family announce the passing of Colin James Downs, husband of Adrienne (Demerse) Downs, occurred on Monday, August 9, 2021 at Bobby’s Hospice.
Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on September 4, 1943, he was a son of the late Robert and Norah (Shields) Downs. Colin was employed for many years at the Saint John Shipyard, Irving Refinery (Fluor) and several other companies around North America. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Montreal Alouettes fan. In later years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and being their number 1 fan at their sporting events.
Besides his wife, Colin is survived by his children; Stacey Healey of Saint John, and Greg (Lisa) of Saint John, grandchildren; Cole and Jackson Healey, Kaleb and Emma Downs, several nieces and nephews, and his furry friend Lexi. He will be deeply missed.
Colin was predeceased by his parents, and brother Trevor Downs.
In keeping with Colin’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119). A private family interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery. Remembrances in memory of Colin, may be made to the ALS Society or to Bobby’s Hospice.
