Obituary of Joan Loretta Allen

It is with heartfelt sorrow the family of Joan Loretta Allen, wife of the late Arthur Allen, announce her passing on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, which occurred at Embassy Hall, Quispamsis.

Born on June 11, 1939, in Sussex, she was a daughter of the late John and Clara (Smith) Young.

Joan and her husband Arthur, operated Art’s Taxi in Sussex, for over 40 years until retirement. She had a sense of adventure and loved her many trips to Florida with Art, with her sisters to Myrtle Beach, and her summers in Long Reach enjoying time with her family, whom she adored. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Joan is survived by her nephews; Steven Marr (Lori) of Long Reach, Trevor Marr (Christina) of Rothesay, and Scott Folkins (Tammy) of Sussex, niece Rebecca Keith (Darrell) of Belleisle, great nephews and nieces; Tyler Marr (Amanda and her son Grayson), Bradley Marr (Ashley); Jaxson Marr, Hannah Keith, and Cohen Keith, great great nephews; Weston and Wrenley Marr, brother-in-law Blair Folkins, long time childhood friend Germaine Dicks, and family friend Les O’Donnell.

Besides her husband and parents, Joan is predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law Murray and Gladys Allen, sisters; Carol Marr (James) and Sally Folkins, and her dogs; Tody, Freeway, Miranda, and Simon.

The family wishes to express a special thanks the girls and staff at Embassy Hall and to Gloria Hayward for their care and compassion for Joan over the years.

In keeping with Joan’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119). A graveside service will be held at Kirk Hill Cemetery on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 1PM. For those who wish remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
