Nancy was an wonderful nursing instructor, with a hilarious sense of humor. She always came along at the right time during training, with the right words of encouragement to help you continue on. I know heaven is a better place because she is there. She inspired a generations of care givers. She is in my prayers.

To Daniel, Sara, Dorothy and all the family, I am sending my condolences for the loss of Nancy. I have known her for a very long time and she always has demonstrated strength and determination. She was an excellent nurse and teacher and her many students had a strong role model for excellence in nursing care. As others have said, Nancy was most proud of her children and grandchildren and lived for them. May your many memories of her give you comfort in the days ahead.

I am sending heartfelt condolences to Nancy's family. Nancy and I shared an office for many years at the Saint John School of Nursing. She shared her vast knowledge and teaching skills with me throughout that time. We also quickly became friends. I had the opportunity to spend time with Nancy outside of the office and therefore had the privilege of getting to know Daniel and Sara as they were growing up. During the last few years when we spoke, Nancy shared her deep love for her grandchildren as well as her enjoyment of the special times that she, Daniel, Sara and her grandchildren had together. My thoughts and prayers are with the family of my special friend. May happy memories help to carry you through this sorrowful time. I will always remember you Nancy. God Bless each one of you.

My sincere condolences to you all in memory of Nancy. We were classmates in Nursing 1969, the best class ever. She was so strong and determined, you could tell it in her face. I a not surprised to read some of the tributes from her students as she would have been all that your write. We were well brought up as nurses with the same professor for 3 of our 4 years, Miss Leckie. Nancy learned from the best with professionalism and humor.
She was not big on reunions unfortunately, but when I had a reunion in Fredericton in June 2016, Nancy did join us. What a pleasure it was to see her PICC line and all. She drove from Rothesay that evening and insisted on going home after dinner although we all wanted her to stay. She and I have been in touch on Facebook occasionally.
You will all miss her very much and as a classmate I regret our loss as well.
All the best next week as you process the memories during your services. In celebration of Nancy.

Nancy was one of my nursing instructors in the late 70's. She was only about 10 years older than most of us students at that time, and presented herself professionally, competently, and efficiently at all times. We were in awe of her, and aspired to be like her. Fast forward to 2013, and my husband and I met Nancy in the chemo room at the Saint John Regional. My husband was also a nurse, also battling a terminal diagnosis, and had met Nancy more recently in some of his volunteer and work roles in the community. What a conversation we had that day, on cancer, on "work", on family, and yes, even on the prospect of dying! It was no surprise to me, knowing both individuals and how strong and determined they were, but I think there were other "customers" in the chemo waiting room that day who were surprised by the tone of the conversation, the laughter mixed in with the emotion, and the strength of these individuals, who were so obviously ill.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Please know how much Nancy was admired.

Sincere condolences to all of Nancy’s family. I am a classmate from the UNB Nursing Class of ‘69. One of my favourite memories of Nancy was that we both attended our 10th year class reunion in 1979 when we were both very obviously pregnant for our first child and in the class picture taken that day, I stood behind Nancy at the left of the group. Wierd what one thinks of at times like this isn’t it? We also had a great chatcc bc at a dinner in Fredericton in 2014 which was hosted by another classmate, Maureen Oliver.
Know that I am thinking of you at this sad time. All of the good memories will keep her alive in our hearts and minds forever. And May she be at peace after such a strong fight to overcome the cancer that she suffered from for such a long time. RIP my friend.

I am sending my deepest condolences to Nancy's family, friends, fellow instructors, staff and graduates of the Saint John School of Nursing. I had the pleasure of teaching with Nancy from 1975 to 1996. Nancy's quick sense of humour, keen intelligence and caring manner endeared her to thousands of nursing students. What wonderful memories we treasure and Nancy made many valuable contributions to our productive faculty meetings, creative labs, busy clinical rotations, lively exam question reviews, funny skits and line dancing routines at pin dinner/graduation activities and festive annual children's Christmas parties where Daniel and Sarah delighted us all! Nancy will be greatly missed and may she rest in eternal peace. God bless. Marg (Storey) Winchester

I was also part of the UNB Nursing class of ‘69. Nancy and I both came from small rural communities in N.B. We became good friends and shared many experiences throughout our nursing years. Nancy was a bridesmaid at Les and my wedding in August, 1969. (see pic attached). I enjoyed our visits through the years when she was able to attend our reunions. So sad to hear of her passing. Sending condolences to Daniel and Sarah and families and will hold you all in our thoughts and prayers at this time. Hope to get down to the visitation.
