Obituary of Ken Trapmore

It is with heartfelt sorrow, the family of Kenneth “Ken” Tony Trapmore, husband of Joyce Trapmore (nee Haffenden), occurred on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Born in England on June 3, 1933, he was the eldest son of the late Albert and Adeline (Lee) Trapmore. Ken was a Welding Engineer by trade, he worked for several companies in England and Winnipeg.  He loved having the opportunity to teach people the ins and outs of welding and the true art it took to craft the perfect weld and the knowledge of all the different metals used in his trade.  Ken served his National Service in the British Royal Corps of Signals in Gibraltar and proudly wore his blazer and beret every Remembrance Day. He loved his soccer and was a lifelong Arsenal Football fan. He loved all sports and dabbled in many, golf, water polo, rowing, curling and bowling, but he especially loved his cricket.  Ken enjoyed being a soccer coach that spanned many age groups, the family have many fonds memories of Ken and the Versatile Soccer Team. Ken kept an active life which included woodworking, ballroom dancing, camping just to name a few, but Ken had a true passion to sing, anytime he had the chance he would get up and sing and in recent years organized everyone to sing Christmas Carols in their apartment building in Dartmouth.

He is survived by his beloved wife Joy of 65 years, his son David (Jo-Anne) of Winnipeg, MB and daughter Kim (David) of Hampton, NB, brother John Trapmore (Sue) of England, brothers-in-law Brian Haffenden (Akhom) of Australia, and Graham Haffenden (Anna) of England; grandchildren; Natasha (Justin), Erica (Mike), Kevin, Matthew (Mallory) and Raegan (Derek), great-grandchildren: Lochlan, Kylar, and arriving soon Jellybean; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Ken was predeceased by his parents, brothers: Derek and Peter; and sister Barbara Turner.

A final fond farewell from all your Grandchildren, “Goodbye old friend, May the fourth be with you Grandad”, we love you.

Arrangements under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119). A memorial service celebrating Ken’s life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 10:00 am from Atlantic Funeral Home, 771 Main Street, Dartmouth, NS (902-462-1434). For those unable to attend the service, a livestream of Ken’s service can be viewed at www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com (Dartmouth Chapel). Interment to take place at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens.
