Obituary of Violet Blanche Stauffer

It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Violet Stauffer, wife of the late Thomas J. Stauffer, announces her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Thursday, August 18, 2022, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on March 16, 1934, in Strathroy, ON, she was a daughter of the late George and Mary (Skinner) Collins.

Violet lived in London, ON, and was employed with Summerville Industries, where she met the love of her life, her future husband, Tom. The family later moved to New Brunswick, settling in Saint John. There she worked with Baxter’s Dairies for many years until her retirement. Violet loved crocheting, making many treasures for the people she loved! She loved playing cards, especially cribbage, Euchre, as well as Dominos. Violet enjoyed walking the beaches, collecting sea glass and seashells. She was a keen birdwatcher. Violet loved watching the antics of many varieties of birds who visited the feeders in the backyard.

Violet is survived by her children; Tom Stauffer (Theresa), and Linda Sherwood (Fred), both of Quispamsis, grandchildren; Ann Marie Bennett (Robert), Ryan Stauffer, Jennifer Green (Steve), Matthew Sherwood (Sheena), great grandchildren; Jacob, and Grace Bennett, Richard, and Lydia Green, Sam, Juliette, and Maggie Sherwood, feline companion Boots, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Besides her husband, Violet is predeceased by her brothers; Ted and Bruce Collins, sisters; Isabel Walker, Barbara Bailey, Georgina Bailey, and Betty Miller.

Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 12 – 2:30 PM, with funeral service to follow at 3PM. Due to allergies, the family has requested no flowers. Remembrances may be made to Crosswinds – Occupational Activity Centre Inc., Canadian Cancer Society, or to a charity of donor’s choice. .
