Obituary of Ruth Ann Gallant

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ruth Ann Gallant, wife of Leo Gallant, announces her passing which occurred on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the Sussex Health Centre. Ruth Ann was born on February 2, 1943, in Saint John, NB, and was the daughter of the late Walter and May (Gaudet) Hannah.

During her life, Ruth Ann worked as an office clerk for Downey Ford for over forty years before retiring. She loved spending time playing cards or “small” bingo with her family and friends. She took great pride in her family and loved to cook them meals and making memories with them at the trailer in Prince Edward Island or when she and Leo travelled to Florida. Ruth Ann loved music and enjoyed jam sessions where she could listen to her favourite country music artists. She was kind, patient and loved to laugh at the antics of her family. Ruth Ann will be remembered for her kind, fun and bright A-1 personality.

She is survived by her husband, Leo; son, Dale (Lana) Waite; daughter, Tammie Waite; step-sons, Guy Gallant, Gerald Gallant and Duane (Cynthia) Waite; step-daughters, Kathy Goentzel (John) and Debbie Gallant; sister, Marion Cosman; and sister in-law Jeanie Hannah; as well as several grand and great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brother, Don Hannah; sister, Lois Maher; step-son-in-law, Emery; step-daughter-in-law, Krista Gallant; and her brother-in-law, Walter.

Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd. Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Wednesday, November 30, 2022, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Rd. on Thursday, December 1, 2022, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to War Amps, Stan Cassidy Centre, or the Sussex Health Centre.
