Hey Colin, these past few years have been a bit challenging but you carried on like a trooper with hope, laughter and optimism. Always the eternal optimist - looking forward to a better and brighter future. Thanks for the stories, never an awkward pause when you were in the room. It is obvious you cared a lot about family and your mates over the years. You always had time for a chat, tell a story or share a laugh. I’ve heard it said that laughter is the evidence of freedom. Thanks for taking time to be part of my life, being interested in my family. I have fond memories of my summer in Saint John, scallops, and BBQ’s and of your time here in Calgary. You and Yvonne have raised a fine crew and I know they mean the world to you.
With love, Peter, Laura, Conner & Samantha Dunn

So, So Sad to lose Colin
My Uncle Firstly. Then Great Uncle to my children.
As I became older he became more like a 'mate'.
Always good company, entertaining, positive, always interested in my children and how and what they were doing.
Happy times with him watching my son play rugby or my daughters rowing and always happy times sharing a few ales together.
I'll miss his sense of humour and his outlook on life - always caring right to the end, even finding the strength to support me when my mother Ann passed before Christmas.
Thanks to Nick and Raeanne for being there for him on his final journey.
Sending love to his brothers Martin and Steve.
Rest Well Col, always one of my favourite Uncles.
Tony ('Neff Tone), Pauline, Angela, Hatti, Georgie, Bethy, Tom and Hugo xx

Colin and I had many happy years exploring Canada after we went to live there in 1975.
Colin was very much a family man. There was nothing he liked better than to be at the cold ice rink cheering his sons along at their hockey games or running up and down the side lines of the soccer pitch encouraging them to score goals!
Although we lived in many other areas across Canada, the Kennebecasis area was home to us. Colin loved to visit Deer Island and Rustico Bay on PEI and the family spent many happy times there.
It was so good that Colin was able to return home to Rothesay to spend his last days. Sail away up the River, Colin, and be at peace.

Thanks Yvonne. In my conversations to Colin in the months prior to his passing he spoke about you several times. In this respect although you and he separated a long time ago, it was clear he loved you as well as Nick, Raeanne and Jeremy until the very end. Take care. Love Steve xxx

I am so sad to lose a cousin who has been a special person in my life since we were little. He loved his sons and his brothers and sister so much. I'll never forget his stories of his family and his impromptu Monty Python skits with his sister. He was thrilled with the arrival of every grandchild. He was also very good to my parents (aunt Pat and uncle Colin who he was named after) and to my daughter. Apart from his engineering career and his clocks, he was an excellent cook too.
My condolences to his family who looked after him so lovingly. Miss you Colin. Rest in peace. Love Judy Dunn

Although I didn’t have a close connection with Colin, the times I did see him with our family were always fun occasions. Great memories of Colin, Yvonne and the boys in Rothesay!! Colin had a natural ‘Uncle’ aura! Always interested in what you were doing and how things were. I am very grateful that he maintained a friendship with my Mum after my Dad Stan
passed away. It meant a lot to her- and she would share stories of his adventures in western Canada which were so nice to hear. I, too, would like to say Thank You to Nick and Raeanne and children for looking after their Dad/Grand Dad with such love and devotion. Colin shared with Mum how blessed he felt. Honoured to contribute to the Wall.

On behalf of my Mum, Margaret Marris
I’ll remember Colin as a great friend to my late husband and me. We shared many experiences from our UK upbringing.
He was justly proud of his sons and grandchildren and showed warmth and friendship throughout his varied life experiences. I will miss our telephone chats over many years since Stan’s passing, even until very recently. His friendship was a lovely gift.

From Winnie The Pooh (A.A. Milne)
If ever there is a tomorrow when we’re not together there is something you must always remember… You are braver than you believe. Stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is even if we are apart I’ll always be with you.
Dearest brother a line or two to echo first what Steve has already so eloquently said and to add my own sentiments. I chose the above Winnie the Pooh extract really to emphasise the fact that for me being that much younger than you that you were always there. Along with Ann I suppose the two of you were like mini parents and I learnt a lot from you both during my formative years. Just being you was an education in itself - the caring person you were all those years ago and how you continued to care right up until the end. I shall always be grateful to you for so many things and even though in later years we all went our separate ways you were always with me spiritually. You thrived on being generous with your love and loved to reciprocate positive feelings. Even in the last few months of your life you were always there to give positive feedback and offer suggestions to help solve problems - always thinking selflessly. You may be gone but you will never be forgotten - a joy to be able to call you my dear brother - love you - Martin x
Like Steve I also want to thank Nick and Raeanne for their tireless giving over the last few months to make sure Col was cared for and cherished the way he deserved. Thanks x

Steve DUNN Colin's brother. Narbonne France.
In struggling to come to terms with my dear brother Colin's passing, I'd like first and foremost to express my sincere thanks to Nick and Raeanne for taking such responsibility for his love and care these past difficult months...The care they have given, including the transport Nick personally provided from West to Eastern Canada, can only be described as without equal, and myself and all my family members are forever grateful to him and Raeanne for this...
Colin was a very special brother. By "special" I mean he could one minute have you in fits of laughter with his jokes and stories, only to take you to task with the same breath if he felt you were not pulling your weight within the family circle...In some ways he was often more of a surrogate father to myself and our younger brother Martin, for following the break-up of our parents marriage, he immediately assumed this role in his mid-teens.
I have been really fortunate to have regularly chatted with him by phone from my home in France, and although he must have been suffering, he never ever complained, maintaining his cheerful, zany way of communicating until the end...Such was the strength of the man; a brother to be proud of, who must have known his time left on this earth could only be limited. This is the legacy he has left his younger brothers; a challenge in many ways to face head on what will be, or "que sera sera", whatever the difficulty. For my part Colin, I shall follow your courageous example, and hope I can do you proud in this aim...
This expression of my love, devotion and respect for my 'big' brother can really only be a mini-summary of what he represented for me. I join Nick and Raeanne, Julie my daughter and my French family, our extended family and friends, in simply saying "Au Revoir" Brud, "until we meet again", and we will. Love you Steve.
