Obituary of Carol Louise Thomson
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Carol L. Thomson (Cross), wife of Stuart Thomson, announces her passing which occurred on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Kingsway Care Centre, in Quispamsis. Born on January 20, 1942, in Saint John, NB, Carol was the daughter of the late, Frederick and Eva-Marie (Peters) Cross.
Carol is going to be remembered as a small yet mighty woman, who during her healthy years, lived her life fully. She met her husband of 59 years during a skating outing, and then when she invited Stuart to a graduation, their love story really began. She was proud of her children and loved to play with her sons. She would often be right beside them jumping in snowbanks and having fun. She had a childlike spirit that radiated in everything she did. When her grandchildren came into her life, this love of life transcended into an even deeper appreciation for fun. Her grandchildren called her “Sittie”, and she was the best Sittie anyone could have asked for. Carol worked as a homemaker and babysitter for the neighborhood kids. She volunteered at her children’s schools and loved spending time with them there. In her spare time, Carol enjoyed sewing, spending time in her garden and listening to music. She and Stuart spent many years traveling the roads of Canada and the USA, going to places like: Florida, Texas, Arizona, Detroit, Montreal and many other places as well. When Carol was asked what some of her most memorable experiences were she said: snowbirding with friends, making lunches for the neighborhood kids, baking and shopping with her grandchildren and when she was living on the Kingston Peninsula. Carol could light up any room she was in with her bright smile and laughter. She will be lovingly missed and remembered by her family.
She is survived by her loving husband of years, Stuart Thomson; sons Chris (Anne Marie) and Ian (Lisa Schriver) Thomson; brothers David (Anne-Marie) and Willian (Jane) Cross; and her beloved grandchildren: Kyle, Paige, Bradley and Riley. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Duncan Horne.
Carol’s family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Kingsway Care Centre for their kindness and friendship shown to Carol and her family during her stay there. The compassion that you have shown them will never be forgotten.
Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd. Quispamsis, (506-849-2119). In keeping with Carol’s wishes a private interment will be held in Ocean View Memorial Gardens at a later date. For those who wish donations may be given to Kingsway Care Centre, or the charity of the donor’s choice.
