Obituary of Flo Torrey
It is with heartfelt sorrow that the family of Florence Louise Torrey, wife of the late Carl Torrey, announce her peaceful passing on Thursday, August 3, 2023, at her home, surrounded by the love of her daughter.
Born on March 2, 1941, in Seeleys Cove, she was a daughter of the late Cecil and Audrey (Bothwick) Guthrie. Florence was employed at the Dominion Store in Saint John as a cashier for many years. When you think of the phrase “beautiful inside and out”, it truly captured who Flo was. She enjoyed spending time with her family and made many memories with them on the beaches of Seely’s Cove. Flo found peace in nature enjoying gardening, wildflowers being among her favourite. She had a love of “good” country music, the old stuff. Flo enjoyed going out dancing, wearing her favourite perfume and meeting new people. She is going to be remembered as a vibrant, loving and beautiful person.
Florence is survived by her daughter Kelly Torrey of Quispamsis, sons; Jamie (Betty) of Quispamsis, NB, Jeff (Beth) of Pennfield, NB, and Greg (Tammy) of Saint John, Cheryl DeFazio, her twin sister Freda “Pete” Logan of Quispamsis, brother Gerald (Rose) Guthrie of Seeleys Cove, grandchildren; Sarah, Gregory, Kaitlyn, Jay, and Jessica, great grandchildren; Oliver, and Layla, and close family friends the McMillian Family, as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Besides her husband, Florence was predeceased by her brother John Guthrie.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (506-849-2119) with visiting on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, from 2:00-4:00 PM and 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral Service will be held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 9, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Interment to take place at Hampton Rural Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society of NB to help others with Alzheimer’s or Dementia, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
