I spent many hours around the Ridgway house when I was growing up. Bob gave me my first job when I was 14 sweeping parking lots. He was a great dad to Kim and John and just a great guy to be around. He will be missed.

I was surprised to read of your Father’s passing. My condolences to the family.
I had the pleasure of working with Bob over several years at Galbraith Construction Ltd. He was always willing to help others, was very well liked by many and excelled in his work as the Company’s Engineer.
I’m sure He will be missed by many.
May Bob rest In Peace.

My condolences to Bob's family. I worked with Bob through the Galbraith companies on many matters over the years. Besides being a great source of knowledge on what ever the subject, he was a true character and pleasant to be with. Bob had a way with people and they would listen to what he had to say. I am sure he be missed by all who knew him.

John, Kim and families,
Both Sue and I would like to offer our condolences to you all.
I spent many a day and night working side by side with Bob and I still smile when I think of those times. Bob was such an integral part of our lives both personally and professionally. It would be impossible to compress it into a few lines.
Bob was very well respected within the construction community. There were very few people who didn't recognize his voice when they answered his phone calls and his colorful use of the English language will always be remembered by anyone who knew him.
Sue and I spent a lot of the past few days recalling some of those times which usually ended up with us both in laughter.
Bob was an original and they broke the mold when they made him but we are all better for him being in our lives.

I met Bob in 1952 at Oakwood Collegiate in Toronto as we were entering Grade 9. We had many great experiences over the ensuing 5 years highlighted by our capture, on Labour Day 1956, of a very large massasauga rattlesnake which we donated to the CNE. We both went off to The University of Toronto, me to Victoria College and Geography, Bob to Civil Engineering. We both joined Bête Theta Pi fraternity and, after graduation, Bob was an usher at my wedding.
Over the years Mary and I and Bob and Ruth had numerous happy family get togethers
In 1984 Mary and I travelled to Rothesay to help them celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Bob was a brilliant engineer starting with a stint at CNR and Dillon Engineering in Toronto and then to Galbraith’s in Saint John.
While he crucified the English language, his mathematical skills were superb and he had a great deal of wisdom.
Goodbye old friend. I will always cherish our relationship.

Kim, John and families - Having known and worked with Bob for 50 years its sad and difficult to hear of his passing .Our families were truly intermingled through out these years, and my memories of Bob are more than can be shared here. Bob was a mentor to me, and many others. He had high standards for work, and had a way of coaching you to try and meet them. He had a great wit and could talk to anyone. There was no task he wouldn't take on, and no detail to small for him to oversee. People were comfortable dealing with Bob, and he was welcomed where ever he went. Bob and my father worked side by side for many years ,and their personalities complimented each other. Our family , and our Galbraith Construction family , will always be indebted to Bob for his unquestionable loyalty through out his time with us .I'm sure many of the people who he dealt with throughout his career on the civic, provincial and federal levels will all agree that with his passing, we are truly seeing the end of an era. Take comfort in knowing that he was loved and respected by the many people whose lives he touched .
