My condolences to Rods family. I have had the pleasure of working on a couple projects with him. I will miss our conversations about more than just real estate. Recently we attempted to close a deal that was just not ready to go ahead. He took the time to call on the day he left us to take his last journey into God's realm to say he was sorry we did not get things done. No sorry here Rod thank you for your kindness and the time spent with me talking as friend's. God bless you

Condolences to the family and friends of my Uncle Rod. I have many memories of growing up and being around you - Having my first sip of Alpine beer from the bottle at around age 7 on your deck in Rothesay. Traveling to Grampy and Grammies in Fredericton with you smoking cigs in the car non-stop with myself and cousin Mark, with Rod Stewart turned up loud on the stereo. Kicking my butt at chess (I'm still no good at it). Heading out on your boat for a sail around Kennebecasis River, serving up hots and hams. You'd be red as a beet from the sun, and loving every minute of it. You helped me with the purchase of my first house, and were great at pointing out all sorts of little details that most would gloss over. You were one of a kind and will be sorely missed. I love you Uncle Rod

Dear Judy and Rod's family,
I was saddened to learn of Rod's passing. I had the privilege to race on Fine Print for a couple of seasons in the early 2000s and there was never a dull moment - I have some great memories from those days. He was dedicated to his community and spent many years serving on the Rothesay Public Works Committee. Our political conversations typically started with "Now, MJ"... and off we went. I hope your fond memories give you some small comfort in the challenging days ahead.
Fair winds and following seas, my fellow sailor. We have the watch, you stand relieved.
My heartfelt condolences,
Mary Jane

To all Rod"s family, we send our sincere condolences as we were so saddened to hear of Rod's passing. We have many fond memories of numerous RYC river cruises with Rod on Fine Print. One such cruse stands out where Rod wanted to bid $500 for a water gun. He could be quite a joker at times! We will miss his friendly face around the yacht club as well as out in the community. RIP Rod and may you enjoy the fair winds of heaven. Martine and Philip Massey

I remember first meeting Rod when I joined RYC in 2010, and he recognized that I was a rookie. Rod was one of the first to offer to help out, and continued to do so. I have fond memories of River Cruises, race nights, his beloved "nutbars", AM radio playing golden oldies all night long, Digby races, Halifax Boat Shows, Rambo nights, and many great conversations. I shall miss you, Rod.

From our Family to all the "Crowther Family", we wish to extend our deepest condolences on hearing of Rod's passing. Rod was an experienced and knowledgeable REALTOR, especially in Land Development, and was a Land Advisor to my husband on his land purchases before my time as a REALTOR. Some special memories to share- My son- Jesse Vergen's first car, a vintage Toyota Cressida with all the bells & whistles, was negotiated between Rod and Tom. Forget now what the bartering would have included? The first sailing vessel of the season on the Kennebecasis River, we viewed from our deck, at Scout's Beach was usually Rod's? We would chuckle and wonder what could be keeping Rod warm this early in the boating season? Remember Rod with fondest in his early years with the KV Chamber of Commerce- a leader! May you forever be sailing and holding guard over our beautiful Kennebecasis River and Long Island- you loved so well! Enjoyed home tours, and talking real estate in our many years together at Remax! Rod have a hot toddy with Tom until our paths cross again. RIP Rod! Sandra Jepson and Family

Judy, Mark and Rods family, please accept our deepest condolences on Rods passing.
Like many, we too have many fond memories of nights at Scouts with Rod. We were just recalling one full moon night rafted together and about midnight when we should have been headed to bed, someone mentioned it would be a great night to sail around the island by the light of the full moon. We quickly got under way and spent the next few hours enjoying the trip around the island. The next day was very long as I recall, but there has never been another full moon on the river where we have not thought about that trip . Sail on Rod, you will be missed ....

Judy,Mark, Holly, Lynn, Heather and families, my deepest sympathy to you all! Danny and I first met Rod when we joined RYC in 2000 and we quickly became friends. Rod taught Danny so much about the mechanics of the boat as well as strengthened his sailing skills. They quickly bonded and Dan became part of his Thursday night race team. Rod was a force to be reckoned with an heaven help anyone who made a mistake on his team. Danny was no exception and some nights was put in his place by Rod. Despite it all he continued to race with Rod right up until his death in 2008 and they were inseparable. They shared many Friday nights at Scout’s beach with Skipper and Sailor by their sides. We had many trips up river with Rod and Judy which will always remain dear to my heart. My son Aaron crewed with Rod a lot and learned many of his sailing skills from Him.When Danny died Rod promised to keep watch out for me, Riley and Aaron and he stayed true to his word. My sons and myself loved and respected Rod for that. Judy, despite your differences, you were Rod’s rock right until the end! Thank you for always being there for him. Rod I hope you have reunited with Danny now and are sailing your vessels with Skipper and Sailor!

I will never forget Rod and the positive impact he had on my family. He was basically a brother to my father Dan Hennessey, and I will always be grateful for the times they spent together laughing and sailing. They were two incredible friends and I hope they are now having a laugh together again. My heart goes out to all of Rod's family.
Rod, you were one heck of a sailor. I am so sorry I did not get to say goodbye.

I was so sorry to hear about Rod's passing. My deepest condolences to his family.
Rod was a good friend on the water and a companion for Tuesday night movie night. I first met Rod in 2008 when we joined the Rothesay Yacht Club. While rafting at Scouts Beach, we could always count on a few laughs as Rod would spin tales about sailing adventures, politics or just about anything else. Rod knew many things. I could always count on advice about land and real estate - and he would never accept a dime. Rod was always quick with a joke or could become a "ninja" without notice. :)
May you forever be sailing or watching Rambo in the sky. Rod, we will miss you!
The only photo I could find truly captures the spirit of Rod on the water. He loved to swim and socialize and, on occasion he even show his "back-end" Here is Rod rafting with Margala!

We will miss Rod. We were RYC dock neighbours and shared a mooring together at Scout’s where we would enjoy Rod love for Country Music stargazing and Alpine beer! Rod would always say Fine print had the coldest beer on the river so if you offered him one he would always say that’s ok I’ll get my own! Rod also liked to cook on the boat and his favorite meal to make for us was Beef tenderloin on a stick! He also loved chocolate and black Licorice and was sure to have a stash next to his bunk. Those who visited with Rod would also enjoy a late night snack of hot popcorn. Rod loved the Saint John River! His favorite spot being Lawson’s Passage where we shared many a sunrise and sunset together. Rod was a generous contributor to the Cruise fundraising auctions and you could be sure to be outbid by Rod when it came to anything red including Bloody Caesar’s! Rod taught us a lot about sailing and fixing things on the boat. If you needed a special tool Rod was sure to have it on board. Rod was a special friend. I remember when we purchased Our sailboat and he dropped everything and drove to Belfast to help us sail her home. We are thankful for our time together and extend our deepest sympathy to Judy Mark Decker and his sisters. Mike and Lauren Cosman

My sincere condolences go out to Judy and all of Rod's family. I'm a long term member of Rothesay Yacht Club and 'B' Dock neighbour of Rod and Fine Print (we called it the Orange Boat, much to his chagrin) and we have had many great times both at the club and on the River. Having raced against Rod (and his crew) for many years we never could figure out how he calculated those handicaps to make sure his boat always did well, but we had great fun teasing him about it.
Rodney loved his Fine Print, and RYC, and summer evenings at Scouts Beach with his music and pint (or two) and on the RYC summer Cruise outbidding everyone at the auctions. We always knew when Rod was around because he was 'larger than life' when he was at the Yacht Club. He will be greatly missed at RYC but I'm sure he is up there looking down at our little piece of heaven, and cheering on the sailors as we catch the wind on the River. Smooth sailing to you Rod and our thoughts go out to your family.

So very sorry Judy and family. Please accept our sincere condolences. Rod actually called our office on Friday to ensure Gary (my Dad) knew that his listing would be taken care of after his passing. Gary wasn't in so he and I had a chat. He and Gary (and myself) had a business and friendly relationship spanning over 30 years. He always stopped by the office at Christmas time with a special gift for my father. I couldn't believe he called just hours before his passing. Working until the very end to ensure his clients were taken care of... Our hearts go out to you all...

My condolences to all who knew and loved Rod. I served with him on the board at RYC and rafted up with him at Scouts many times. I remember in particular one dark clear night when it seemed you could see every star in the sky. Rod said “Just look at all those stars, Magnum. No way is that random! There is purpose and intelligence behind that!”.
Maybe that was the purpose. To share moments of awe with friends.
