Obituary of Cora Burke
It is with deep sadness that the family of Courty “Cora” Burke announces her passing which occurred on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Cora was born on March 14, 1944, in Campbellton, New Brunswick.
During her life, Cora worked as a Custodian at Harry Miller Middle School, where she took great pride in her work and loved interacting with the staff and children at the school. Cora will be remembered as a Saint of a mother. She was always there for her children. Cora had a bright and vivacious sense of humour that could light up a room. She had a true knack for finding humour in any situation. She loved to see people smile and to be happy. She truly enjoyed spending time with her family and watching her grandchildren grow. Her grandchildren were so special to her. Music was always something Cora found solace in, and she loved listening to her kids playing guitar and banjo in the kitchen. Cora loved to host a big crowd for dinners and her guests loved her cooking as much as she loved cooking for them. Cora’s family hopes that you think of her anytime you have a delicious home cooked meal.
Cora is survived by her children: Colette (Ralph) Martin of Rothesay, Rheal (Debbie) Pitre of Louisianna, and Carol Pitre of Quispamsis; her brothers Jackie (Helen) and Romeo (Maxine) Courty; beloved grandchildren: Madison, Cora Lynn, Dominic, Gabrielle, Emilia. Sophia, Dillon, Jordan and Justin; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her siblings Ed and Theresa and her grandson, Devin.
Arrangements are under the care of Kennebecasis Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Rd. Quispamsis (506-849-2119). In keeping with Cora’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. For those who wish, donations made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, would be appreciated by the family.
