So sorry to hear of Helena’s passing. My prayers and Condolences to all the family. First meet Helena at Colors then when we both lived on Darling’s Island and with my continued use of her makeup products. Our last continuance of always running into each other was when Aiden and my grandson were in clubs together and I was a cub leader. We always seemed to cross each others path. May you rest in peace.

Dear family of Helena Hook,
So sorry for the sorrow of loosing a loved one. I knew her Daughter Fiona and husband Gary. I had the pleasure of knowing Helena when there would be a gathering at her home. She was always happy to see any one who came to her home and made you feel so welcomed.
Fiona I know you had a much bigger bond to your Mother, she was your best friend and so many people would think you were sisters. Watching the video made me so emotional, loving the choice of music, she had a full life.
She will always be with you.
Thinking of you threw this difficult time.

Stuart and your entire family and Helena 's family near and far. Our hearts are broken to lose such a beautiful person. We shall never forget the time shared in good times and bad.
I am at a loss for words so offer this poem as a tribute to my beloved friend ❤️
"The Light"
Notice how our lives are orchestrated.
We are merely actors in this grand play of life,
Full of plots and choreographed to perfection.
Each of us play many different parts,
Bringing our individual skills to every scene, set and act.
After our roles have all been performed, we exit the stage. Oh, we may have several curtain calls
But in the end we move aside to allow
New actors to take our place.
As in all aspects of life, some stars shine brighter
And when their light is gone, our world seems
Duller, less vibrant. A chill creeps into our hearts,
As we realize our loss.
Such is the case of our darling star;
Our world will be a much colder, darker place
Without her brilliant light.

Sending words of love and comfort to you Stuart, my dear brother-in-law, my niece, Fiona, nephews Ian and David and great-nephew Aiden. I am many miles away in England but my heart is is in Quispamsis as we say a final goodbye to my beloved sister, Helena.
She was such a kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and true friend.
Helena was such a delightful sister who was a font of wisdom and encouragement whenever I needed inspirational ideas for a new topic to present to my Irish Group here in Peterborough. No matter what problem I needed to solve, be it sewing, decorating, hobbies, health, Helena would always come up with ideas and words of encouragement and numerous solutions. I loved (and will miss) our long trans-Atlantic phone calls. We loved bouncing ideas off each other and we both shared a love of Irish literature, poetry and set dancing. Helena was my ‘Literary Muse’. What amazed me most about Helena was her gift of remembering events of our childhood in such detail and writing them down so eloquently that when I read them it was like watching a film where we were all acting out our parts exactly as it was stored in my own memory. Yet those memories would have eventually drifted away if Helena hadn’t recorded them so for that I am eternally grateful.
I came across this poem and I dedicate it to Helena who is in our hearts forever.
In Loving memory
of my
Sister, Helena
Of all the special gifts in life
However great or small,
To have you as our sister
Was the greatest gift of all.
May the wind of love blow softly
And whisper in your ear
“We love and miss you Sister
And wish that you were here”.
Deep in our hearts, you life is kept,
To love and Cherish, not forget;
No more tomorrows we can share
But yesterdays are always there.
A silent thought, a secret tear
Keeps your memory ever near.

So sad....the loss of a beautiful woman, with a soul to match....Helena was one of a kind, with an enthusiasm for life that was so rare...she loved her family beyond measure, Stuart, her loving husband, they made such a wonderful couple, her children, Fiona, her only daughter and soul mate, her son, Ian and grandson Aiden, she loved them deeply, and her youngest son, David and his family, my sincere sympathy goes out to all of them.
My sympathy also to her siblings, the family stayed so close even with an ocean between them. So many trips back and forth to Ireland, they really all loved each other, and they will miss her so much.
I thank Helena and Stuart for all the contribution's they made in their community, they stayed so involved...The Irish culture owes much to their hard work and effort in promoting Irish culture and music to this city but also the province. The friendships they made, everyone loved them, Helena lite up a room with her beautiful smile and gentle ways.....when you met her you liked her....God bless all her family, and support them in their grief......Helena you will never be forgotten. Somewhere in Heaven I know they are singing, "When Irish Eyes are Smiling."..... Prayers, ..Margaret Rose..

My sincerest condolences goes out to the Hook family. As a close friend of Helena’s grandson Aiden, Helena treated me like her own. There was never a time I went to their house and wasn’t offered a meal and a chat. I always enjoyed talking to Helena and how she always gave Aiden and I the benefit of the doubt when we were being troublemakers and didn’t really deserve it. Her kindness and hospitality was so infectious I always wanted to go over because of how positive of an environment she made her house even when she was sick. She was an amazing woman and the world will not be the same place without her.

My deep and heartfelt sympathy goes out to you, Stuart, Ian, Fiona and David and all extended family, here and abroad, for the loss of your kind, generous and loving wife, mother, sister and Nanna, Helena, who was also my very dear and close friend. Her beautiful smile and those twinkling blue eyes were beacons of a soul that was kind, loving and devoted to her family and close friends. She was a good listener, deep thinker, and a gifted writer who always exhibited a positive and compassionate attitude to all she met, always going the extra mile to make one feel welcome and at ease. That beautiful Irish spirit also fueled her unshakeable love for Irish music, language and dance. I'll never forget all the ceilidhs and kitchen parties in Saint John, the Miramichi and our famous trip to the home of my heart, Cape Breton. Farewell Dearest Friend - you will be missed, but never forgotten.
