Obituary of Clyde Douglas Stevens
Surrounded by his family, the death of Clyde Douglas Stevens, occurred on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Dr. VA Snow Centre.
Born in Bear River, NS on April 29, 1927, he was a son of the late Lyle and May (Dukeshire) Stevens.
Clyde was predeceased by his wife Elizabeth (Betty), brothers; Elwood, and Weldon, and sister Irene Harris.
Survived by his son David (Linda) and daughter Carol Smith (Douglas), grandsons; Jonathan and Graeme, as well as several nephews and nieces.
Clyde worked at G.E. Barbour Co. for 42 years both in Saint John and Sussex. His life was centered around his church and related activities. He served as a deacon for over 60 years, most recently at Faith Bible Baptist Fellowship in Sussex, where he helped start the annual Missionary Conference every April. He was also a scoutmaster at Main Street Baptist Church for 14 years in his earlier days.
He had an immaculate flower and vegetable gardens after his retirement and was also an amazing baker of pies and sweetbreads, which he loved to share with the community.
Clyde's family would like to express deepest appreciation to the dedicated and caring staff at the Dr. VA Snow Centre in Hampton, for all their support.
At the family's request there will be no visitation. Funeral Service will be held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, NB (849-2119) on Tuesday, June 12, 2017 at 10AM. Interment to take place at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Faith Bible Baptist Church Fellowship or to the Dr. VA Snow Centre.
