As a law student and later an articling student, Bob took an interest in me. As a young lawyer, he caught me the value of not.onlymhard work and understanding the law, but of avoiding the bells, whistles and tricks. He valued integrity above all and showed me how that was a winning strategy. A wonderful mentor, a brilliant lawyer and a great friend. He will be missed. I was a better lawyer and a better person because of him.

Barb and Sam, Nea and I would like to express our sincere condolences on Bob’s passing. Bob was ever the consummate gentleman and always had a smile on his face and a friendly salutation for all. When I was a young partner at Stewart McKelvey in the 90s, Bob’s positivity and “glass-is-half-full” approach to work and life was always reassuring. Others have spoken of Bob’s skills as a litigation lawyer — I have come in recent years to appreciate how well respected he was before the NB courts. With our heartfelt condolences,
Nea and Darrell

Our condolences to Barb and family. We first met Bob and Barb on a cruise, both being lucky winners of the Rothesay Rotary Club cruise draw many years ago. Bob was also in the “Friends of the Y” group that was presented with the Y Red Triangle award. The group was made up of Bob,Clark Sanction,Brice Belyea, David Carlin and myself and was involved with restructuring of the Y in a time of difficulties and it would have greatly pleased Bob to see the new Y of today.

So sorry to learn of Bob’s passing. I had the pleasure of sailing with Bob often at the RKYC, where one quickly experienced his sharp sense of humour. I also worked with him on several legal issues, where I saw first hand his skills as a lawyer. May memories of happier times with Bob carry you through this difficult time.

Barb; I remember well your wedding 55 years ago this Spring.

To the Vincent Family
It was with shock and sadness that I learned of Bob's passing.
Bob was a skilled and able litigator. He and I were adversaries on numerous occasions , over a 25 year period, at various trials , appeals and administrative hearings. Bob was always well prepared and represented his clients very well and always in a professional and civil manner.
As many of his colleagues have stated, he was a true gentleman . His word was his bond.
While I have not seen or been in touch with him for several years since we both retired from practice, I considered him a friend. I will miss our friendly chats .He was a good person . The legal profession has lost a terrific representative .
Please accept my sincere condolences on your loss.

Barb and Sam, I was very saddened to hear of Bob’s passing.
He gave me my first litigation assistant job fresh out of business college in 1987. I remember him telling me that he wasn't nervous to teach me the ways of litigation and the benefit of me having zero experience was that he wouldn't have to correct anyone else's bad habits!
We kept in touch over the years from time to time and he always asked about my family. He was such a kind soul.
My deepest condolences to you both at this very sad time.

Holly and I were saddened to hear of Bob's passing. After knowing him for 45 years, this is difficult to accept.
On my first day of articling, I was sent to observe a major trial that he and Neil McKelvey were conducting and got to watch him in action in his prime. When I was a young lawyer, he invited me to assist him on a substantial personal injury trial. Later, I was second chair with Bob on a high profile wrongful dismissal action by a former Deputy Minister. His generosity to me as a junior was not unique; he mentored numerous lawyers and students over the course of his career.
He was unfailingly courteous with opposing counsel and the Court and was always respected as a result.
As I matured as a lawyer, we would spend time in each other’s offices chatting and sharing ideas. As other colleagues have said, never once did I see Bob get angry or utter a harsh or unkind word about anyone.
We also shared good times outside the office at social events and a few salmon fishing trips to the Restigouche and Miramichi. I recently came across a photo taken at Larry’s Gulch where we all had great success.
Please accept our deepest condolences

Barb, Carol and I were saddened to learn of Bob’s passing and send our sincere condolences to you and Sam. I was privileged to have been a partner of Bob’s for more than 30 years and witnessed first hand how he undertook every task in a thorough thoughtful way whether it was on behalf of a client or giving his expertise to a charitable organization like the Y or his work with the Canadian Bar Association.
Always totally prepared. Though numerous memories come to mind one stands out to exemplify Bob’s style of being ready for anything. A number of guys from our Y aerobics class arranged to get canoes from Camp Glenburn in early May before the camp was open to run the Kennebecasis River from Sussex to Hampton.
Not having any canoe experience and knowing that Bob had been a counselor at the Y’s boys camp I told Bob I would take the bow and do whatever he said. Everything went well for the first hour or so but we then approached a low hanging tree. The water was high and I subsequently learned cold. I leaned forward to clear the tree but regrettably Bob leaned to starboard and over we went. All my stuff—camera, extra clothes, lunch etc sank to the bottom of the river. Not Bob’s. His stuff all floated in water tight L L Bean bags waiting to be retrieved. Always prepared. I will miss Bob but cherish the many fond memories.

Barb and Family,
It was a pleasure to have worked with Bob for 40 years at the firm now know as Stewart McKelvey. Bob was a key member of the litigation team and a mentor and friend to all of the lawyers and staff on the team. Bob’s door was always open for a friendly chat, consulting with other senior counsel and mentoring the younger lawyers. Aside from his experience and skills as a senior litigator, Bob was the quintessential gentleman and never had a harsh or unkind word for anyone. As Krista came to know Bob she found him to be a kind and caring gentleman - some would say a unique quality for a litigation lawyer. Krista and I will fondly remember a few nice meals at Billy’s and the occasional “Neal Diamond” song after a few cocktails. Bob’s community service was another long-standing feature - consistent with his exemplary character. Our deepest condolences.
