Obituary of Laird Currie Sherwood

It is with great sadness that the family of Laird Sherwood announce his death that took place on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at Saint John Regional Hospital. Laird is survived by Jay, his wife of 55+ years, his daughters Ann Sherwood MacTaggart and Samantha Sherwood Jardine and four grandchildren; Megan and Ensley MacTaggart and Katie and Kieran Jardine—all of whom he adored. Laird was born on February 7, 1938 in Ottawa, Ontario. His parents (now deceased) were Harm and Verna (nee Wells) both of whom were born in NB and remained Maritimers at heart—a value that Laird held despite living in many different parts of Canada. Laird received his higher education at the University of New Brunswick and the University of Alberta. His career in education included administration and teaching in both the general and higher education systems in New Brunswick and Alberta. He retired in the late nineties giving him the time to indulge in two of his passions—model railroading and home renovation projects! Laird is already sorely missed by Jay, Ann, Bruce, Sam, Kyle, Kieran, Katie, Meggie and Ensley. He was well loved by all of us! Laird was predeceased by his son Edward, and his brother Douglas. As per Laird's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick.
