Obituary of George Alfred Polley
The death of George Alfred Polley of Quispamsis, husband of the late Connie (Cairns) Polley, occurred on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Born on August 5, 1925, in Saint John, he was a son of the late James and Rena (Kimball) Polley. George attended Vocational School and Modern Business College. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II, where he was a telegrapher and wireless operator. George then was employed as an accountant and port representative for Maple Leaf Foods for several years until his retirement.
George helped build his summer cottage on his lakefront property at Washedemoak Lake, and greatly enjoyed swimming boating there for many years.
George is survived by his sons; Hugh (Petra) of Calgary, AB, Wayne of Quispamsis, and Ronald of Peterborough, ON, grandchildren; Shyanne, James, and Allan.
Besides his wife, George was predeceased by his son Bruce, brother Donald (Dolores), grandson Shane, great granddaughter Taylor, and great grandson Anthony.
Resting at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) with visiting on Thursday, October 18 and Friday, October 19 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Funeral Service will be held at Kennebecasis Funeral Home on Saturday, October 20th at 11 AM . Interment to take place at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or to the Cherry Brook Zoo.
