Obituary of Mildred Beatrice Cook
The family of Mildred Beatrice Mary Cook announce her peaceful passing on January 1, 2019 after a brief illness at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Mildred was born on September 6, 1929 in Montreal to the late Wesley and Corine (Landriault) Croft. Her father Wesley, a marine engineer, moved the family to Longbranch (Toronto) in the 1940s where Mildred studied voice at the University of Toronto. She had a life-long appreciation of music and the arts, being an integral organizer of the Rothesay Music Festival. Mildred was past president of the Saint John YWCA and was appointed to the national board. She was proud of her work and the department as Director of Social Services/Discharge Planning at St. Joseph’s Hospital until her retirement. Mildred was past president of the Gerontology Association of New Brunswick and was an active parishioner at St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Rothesay. She was an avid bridge enthusiast. In addition to gardening and reading she loved wintering with Lionel at their home in Florida and summers at Oromocto Lake.
Mildred will be lovingly remembered by her husband Lionel of 67 years, son Bruce (Dale), daughters Deborah Marshall and Linda Logan (Timothy). She is also survived by her twin sister Wilda Ledden; grandchildren: Jeremy Cook, Alexander Cook, Elizabeth Cook (James Clarke), Amanda Cook, Adam Cook, Christopher Logan and Meghan Logan; great grandchildren Jaelee Dickies and Robey Ellis along with several nieces and nephews. Mildred was predeceased by her sons David and Kevin.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119). Visitation will be Friday, January 11, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A Eucharistic funeral service will be held Saturday, January 12 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, 4 Church Avenue, Rothesay, NB. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Paul’s Church Rothesay or to the Primate’s World Relief Development Fund (The Anglican Church of Canada) or the donor’s choice.
