Obituary of Doreen F. Lyons
Surrounded by her family, the death of Doreen Ferne Lyons, wife of the late Carol Lyons, occurred at Kings Way Care Centre, Quispamsis, on Saturday, March 16, 2019.
Born in L'Etete, NB, on January 11, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Donald and Bertha (Wright) Matthews. Doreen was employed with TD Trust as a savings supervisor for many years. After retirement, Doreen and her husband Carol, owned and operated Brookside Convenience. Doreen attended Full Gospel Assembly and Renewed Hope. She was always prepared for company with a warm house, pot of tea, and hot meal; she never wanted her guests to go hungry. She loved to care for her family, but more than anything, enjoyed her time with the love of her life, Carol. They spent 58 years making memories, travelling and camping, and serving the Lord together.
Doreen is survived by her children, Lori Reid (Jeff), Grant Lyons (Heather), and Sandi Fres (Peter), her adored grandchildren; Nicholas, Kristyn and Katie Reid; Brittany and Gillian Lyons; Brydon and Oliver Lyons; Jessica and Sarah Fres, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her loving husband, Doreen was predeceased by her brothers; Herbert Matthews (Rheta), and Hollis Matthews, sisters; Anna Hope (Roy), and Carol Hall (Jack).
Special thanks, to the outstanding staff at Kingsway Care Centre, and loving homecare givers, who went over and above with Doreen and her family.
