Obituary of John Alan Gallant
It is with great sadness the family of Al Gallant of Rothesay, beloved husband of Gloria “Sis” (Roy) Gallant, announce his death which occurred on Saturday, January 19, 2013, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Alberton, PEI on February 21, 1943, he was the son of the late Joe and Bertha Gallant.
Prior to his retirement, Al was employed as a welder for mechanical maintenance Local 2309 at Point Lepreau and was also a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters union Local 213. He will always be remembered for his strong work ethic and dedication to a career that he truly enjoyed and loved. Al’s friendship and practical jokes will be sadly missed by his work family.
Al had many interests, some of which included four wheeling, woodworking and nature but most of all, he loved and adored spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, who were his world.
Besides his wife, Sis, Al is survived by his three children, Christine (Shawn) of Rothesay, Cory (Tammy) and Cindy (Eric) both of Quispamsis; his precious grandchildren, Danielle, Allie, Ben, Lauren, Mitchel, Bradley and Hannah. Also survived by his siblings, Rita, Claire, Fred, Linda, Leigh, Maureen, Betty and Bobby; several nieces and nephews; as well as a large community of friends... including special co-workers from Point Lepreau. He was predeceased by sisters, Frances and Carmen and brothers, Brian and Frankie.
Al's family would like to extend a special thank you to great friends, Pat Dunphy, Mel Basque and Kevin Roy for all your love and support as well as his many valued friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, (506) 849-2119, with visitation on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM. Vigil Prayers will be held Tuesday at 8:00 p.m., at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 171 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis, on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at 10:00 AM. A reception will be held in the church hall immediately following the Mass. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Saint John.
