Obituary of Tanya Marie Shand
It is with extreme sadness that the family of Tanya Shand announces her sudden and unexpected passing, which occurred on May 22, 2013. Born in Halifax on September 7, 1979, she was a daughter of Bruce Shand and Nancy (Hilchey) Shand. Tanya graduated from KVHS, and had taken a massage therapy course in Halifax, before beginning employment with Wyndham as a reservations agent. Recently, she had taken on a mentoring role, training other staff. In her earlier years, she loved gymnastics, and was known as a tomboy. A kind hearted woman, Tanya's life was dedicated to her family; she always wanted to provide her daughter with the best life she could, and relished every opportunity to spend time with her daughter. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Tanya is survived by her daughter Cheyenne, parents Bruce Shand of Nanaimo, BC, mother Nancy Shand of Quispamsis, sister Julie Shand (Craig Ryan) of Quispamsis, grandmother Evelyn Shand of Enfield, NS, nephew Javan Poirier of Quispamsis, as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles. Tanya was pre-deceased by her grandmother Hazel (Wilson) Hilchey, formerly of Dartmouth, and grandfathers Ralph Hilchey and George Shand, also of Dartmouth.
Although there will be no public visitation, family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service, which will be held at Kennebecasis Community Funeral Home, 152 Pettingill Road, Quispamsis (849-2119) on Monday, May 27, 2013 at 11:00 AM. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Women's Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Online condolences and remembrances may be placed at: www.KennebecasisFH.com
